Bumping a tweet from 2011?
Yes. It is Schumer lamenting how the GOP was willing to shut down the government and that they should compromise....the same thing the Dems are threatening to do now, only without the compromise part. The left is infamous for demanding courtesies they are not willing to give.

I'm hearing that McConnell will indeed push HealthCare through, and that the Bill will be reconciled with the House version BEFORE August recess. May as well. Like one Lady on Fox said this morning....if you have an 'insurance policy' where the premium is 2K per month and the deductible is 6-10K...you effectively have *insurance*...but NO ACCESS to healthcare.
I have a friend/family who is a Pharmacist; smart guy. He stays on the Net researching the Business, like we do on the Poliboard. He said that the whole HC System is hanging by a thread, and will go down in short order.

Shut it down I wonder how much money is saved every day we have a government shutdown
My guess is that it will cost us more. The truth is nothing really shuts down except the things that are a nuisance to the public. They want the public to feel affected so they can use it as leverage to get what they want. For example the National Parks/Monuments. DC for example, these are open 24/7. They close them down, pay to have Law Enforcement there to keep people out. My guess is they have more people staffed to be there when it is closed than they do when it is open.

Look at reality, she has stage 4 cancer. Odds are even with treatment she still dies, it only buys her a little time. The taxpayer shouldn't be responsible for footing that bill. Nor should healthy people have to endure higher premiums due to a pre existing coverage requirement.
Guessing you've never sat with someone you loved and watched them die of cancer. It is gut wrenching, and something I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. It is even more gut wrenching and painful for the person going through it. No, there's no cure, but there are many treatments that can ease the suffering the dying person goes through. Some of those treatments aren't cheap.
I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you are just ignorant to the final days someone with cancer goes through. To say something like that to someone whose mom is going to go though it is so heartless, ignorance is about the only defense.

My dad is 65. My mom is not. He worked over 40 years in manufacturing and had great insurance. Now that he is retired and is 65 my mom will not be on his insurance.
It's not about planning or the type of insurance. It is about premiums that are charged to people between 59 and 65. My dad has been paying into SSN since he was 13. My mom has been working with the church unpaid for well over 30 years.
For the next few years she would not be covered under ACHA with affordable premiums.
When people look at planning or polical views it's not about the tax payers. Everyone's situation is different.
We have always taken care of our older generations. The biggest reasons we have take care of them in the past it is because they have taken care of us and it is the right thing to do.
Many of us complain about Millenials and one of the reasons is them being selfish. We are better as a nation by taking care of every citizen.

It's always surprising to me that people think generosity and caring is voting to spend other people's money. It is no such thing.

The last one was over the instillation of ObamaCare, and we all know what a mess it has been, so.....no.

The same could be said about ObamaCare, though. We don't know if premiums will be higher or lower under ACHA. Nobody knows. We do know that premiums are skyrocketing under ObamaCare.

I agree 100%. But nobody was being taken care of before...I'm not sure how things will change at all under a new Health Care bill. I mean, we don't really know. The whole stink being put up by the Dems is that nobody knows.

From the standpoint of government sponsored Health care?
Would you mind telling me what it was?
We are talking about Government sponsored healthcare program similar to Obama care or ACHA.
I would like to read up on the health care plan the government was providing?
ETA
I should further this along by saying he was worried about his mother who is not 65, so she did not qualify for Medicare. Before Obama Care all we had was Medicare and privately bought insurance....as it should be, in my opinion. Well, Medicaid for those that could not afford it, but I am guessing his mother does not qualify for that.

Which is why it should be vetted, debated, allowed to have amendments added, etc. You know, the normal bill process. Drafting in secret and putting it to vote soon after making it public is insanely irresponsible.

You are preaching to the choir. I have said on many occasions that I don't like that it has been kept secret.
I DO understand to a point, that the reason is because it should not be vetted and debated by a biased media before it has a chance.
The media, in my opinion created this situation with their continuous biased reporting.
