What's your favorite camping spot?

We all have one. So what is yours?
Since camping season finally started up here a couple weeks ago, I was able to get around to doing some of it this past weekend.
My favorite spot is non-designated and in the Spotted Bear Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest, about 50 miles south of Hungry Horse MT and not too far from the Bob Marshall Wilderness. From my house, it takes me about 2 hours to get here.
The best spot around with 3 dogs. 360 degree views of the range atop Kah Mountain.
The sunsets are killer here too!

It's illegal to do so now, but the rim of Crater Lake has the best view to wake up to in the morning. Plus, you can see the aurora borealis on a good night with a geomagnetic storm.
Hard to beat it.

For all around camping, Pismo Beach, CA. Beautiful place and awesome time on ATVs on the sand dunes overlooking the ocean.

Crater Lake is fantastic. I never have camped there tho... my spot is a little too far south for a good aurora but on strong nights it's visible.

That's the one thing I miss the most living here.

Seriously though, Lake Ouachita near Hot Srings Arkansas is a great place.

Tracy Arm Fjord, on an islet between the North and South Sawyer Glaciers was my best camping trip.

Yea, I'm planning on a PCT SOBO in 2019 and can't wait to get back to the Cascades. I hear they monitor by drone for rim campers (not sure how true), but just being at the lake brings back fond memories of my time in Oregon.
I also plan to get to Montana sometime. I hear nothing but good things up there.

Many Glacier campground in Glacier NP. It's surrounded by outstanding trailheads, has tons of wildlife, and you can make a short walk to the store and get huckleberry ice cream.

Is October a good time?

Backpacking Denali is on my bucket list. Will have to add the panhandle as well!

It can be. Not a lot of wildlife and along the coast it will be rainy, but the interior would be awesome. Places like Denali will be closed however.
April is better than October if you're looking at the offseason and want a dryer experience..

I'm so jealous of you guys that live in beautiful areas like this and get to have so many camping options.
There is nothing within 8 hours of south La that excites me enough to make me want to go camping, so I've given up on the idea of it for the most part.

You can find a few hidden gems in Mississippi, especially along the Trace. But yea, anything with breathtaking views will be closer the Apps or out west.

Great spot to be in the park
The next hike on my list out of Many is Prarmigan/Iceberg

I'm heading to GNP end of July. Camping around the Many Glacier area, I'm pumped.
