I will go Desert, just because it is different for me. Lived in Alaska for awhile and been in Tennessee so long it's too familiar.
Tuweep/Toroweap is probably my favorite, although I probably had more fun out in Big Bend, stock photos. Was on a motorcycle, so camping off 2 is always an experience.

Thome Park in South Texas where the Arroyo Colorado River meets the Laguna Madre. Great place to fish/hunt and explore.

Spent a lot of summer nights sleeping along the Eagle River without either. Crazy to look at Google Maps and see all those houses they stuck in there where me and my friends raised hell in some woods.
