Yes, Antonini did both and Keith Osik played all 9 positions in a game so he did both once.

What I was getting at is, without TOPS, some schools will struggle when some of these guys will get scholly at other schools versus having to pay themselves.

Again... the 11.7 limit is not a new thing.

Determan probably did at some point. We used to let him pitch, move to first, then pitch again an inning later.

Did Antonini do it in the same season? It seems like his last year he may have been strictly a pitcher.

I think Will Hunt also did both at that time.

Doesnt that louisville kid bat like 340 with a bunch of home runs?

I mean if we have a pitcher that will give you that then id let him bat too. Probably dh games he isnt pitching in.

Blake Dean was a pitcher. Not the answer to your question, but he was a pitcher with a dead arm and a good swing.

In high school, sure, but only in the eyes of Smoke & Turtle Thomas was he a college pitcher.

Doesn't make sense risking an arm to run bases. If he's good enough to use on a regular basis, then he's good enough to not be worth the risk.

If he's a backup bullpen guy who is unlikely to see regular action, then sure you can DH him if it's your best option. Or move him into the lineup with the option to move him back into the bullpen if injuries or a lack of production require it.

I remember a lot of threads about letting Ryan Eades hit while he was at LSU. There were some threads about him hitting bombs during BP and then the nonstop threads begging Paul to let him DH started. He had a big bat in high school, but I don't think he ever got a chance at LSU.
