Is this in response to the amendment recently passed by the senate? Has anyone actually read the amendment. It's a big nothingburger.
It's a crap bill that hopefully never makes it out of the House.

Progs: Muh Russia needs to be sanctioned!
GOP: OK, let's do it
Progs: Sanctioning Russia is a terrible idea!

She has absolutely no power here. It's either the US or the Russians. Choose wisely Merkel.

Merkel and Putin dont want European Countries buying cheap US natural gas. No doubt there are pipeline routing terminals in Germany that charge very high fees.

How can US sanctions prevent German or EU companies or countries from doing this?

But Russia accounts for 30% of the natural gas imports to Europe. Another pipeline means more gas which means cheaper gas.

Someone else me out here, the sanctions being referred to are the same as the ones placed over the Ukraine situation in 2014?

They can't. Or don't.
That is because the EU and some countries independently sanctioned business against Russuan petrol companies after the US.
Germany is just grandstanding.

So they're ok with Obama's sanctions on Russia, but not Trumps? Got it.
So they've been fearful of their reliance on Russian energy, for what a century plus, but now that we (their ally, they ally that saved their arse from the Russians after WWII all the way through the fall of the Berlin wall, and to an extent today)can begin supplying them with cheap energy they don't want it and would rather have the Russian energy? Got it.
Here's a big frick you Merkel from the baws in the USA.

Their limited sovereignty is very much deserved. History has shown plenty of times that Germanic people do not need to rule any part of the world, they need to be divided and destroyed.
Biggest mistake we made was tearing down the Berlin wall and breathing economic life into their country. We allowed them to be problems, later on down the road..oops.

I've changed my opinion on our relationship w/ Russia, due to Merkel and Germany.
Those US bases need to stay in Germany for as long as possible. The world is more stable when the USA and Russia pretend to be enemies, and we cannot give Germany, using the EU, any opening to lead and rearm Europe.
We need to keep this dance w/ Russia going, true or fake as it may be, to justify keeping Germany on the farm. History has shown, time and time again, the civilized world is far safer when Germany is toothless. They got their chance, and they nearly destroyed the world.

The New York Times:
"Unnamed sources confirmed that Mueller will open an investigation of Merkel."
Informed sources have informed this journalist that Putin/Trump/Merkel colluded to steal election from rightful winner Hillary Clinton ....
