Southern lit a la John Grisham meets James Lee Burke (sorta):
Greg Iles Penn Cage series begins with The Quiet Game. If you're from the rural south, you'll recognize all the players.

A few more I haven't seen mentioned that I like for easy beach reading :
Lucas Davenport series by John Sandford. Starts with Rules of Prey. All the titles have "Prey" in them.
Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas series
James Patterson, Alex Cross series

Does anyone know how to moderate a "contest" thread? Might be fun to nominate, rank, and vote on book series that we enjoyed. Could ask for sticky and keep ranking in first post for reference. If not ranking, then at least a list to reference

I just finished the Odd Thomas series. I second this recommendation.
I love almost everything Koontz has ever written.

A few people said it, but the Bosch series is fantastic. Not to mention he writes other books in that same universe then they team up in some. Also love the constant jabs he throws at movies made about his books, damn does he seem to hate them all.

Preston & Child's "Pendergast" series is very good, and different. Starts with Relic.

Just finished Red Rising. Flew through it. Great recommendation. I love all the historical and mythological references. Ready to get after Golden Son.

Thanks for the recommendation in this thread. Just finished the first book and heading madly into the second.
