If that’s the case, then the article I read was extremely misleading/outright lies.

Going back to the recruiting class, this is how I see things as they shape up.
We lose:
C/PF Reath
SF/PF Epps
PF Combs
SG Onwuasor
We have signed:
PF Reid
PF Days
PG Smart
Reid is a replacement for Reath (bang down low). Days is an Epps replacement (length with range). Smart is a Onwuasor replacement. So we need to find a Combs replacement, and I hope if Williams has his stuff figured out, it's him. You could easily argue all 4 of those are upgrades. No question Williams is over Combs and Smart over Onwuasor. Reid for Reath and Days for Epps are certainly talent upgrades but not necessarily immediate production upgrades.
Add in Bigby-Williams as a bonus player, or even a Reath replacement honestly and it's looking pretty sick.

Offensively Days/Reid May not be as polished as Epps/Reath starting off, but I am hopeful they will be big athletic upgrades and allow our defense to improve pretty dramatically

I’m most excited to see Reid out of incoming freshmen. He can do it all at 6’10.

If Sampson returns, which I rthink he will at this point unless he goes off majorly in conference play, think about our guard rotation next year:
Waters
Mays
Sampson
Smart
Edwards
Rachal
I have no idea how they are going to divvy up minutes. you have your high intensity defensive guy in Rachal. Your 3 point sniper in Edwards. Those are your "Specialists" off the bench IMO. But then you have Mays who can shoot and handle the ball. Smart who can shoot and handle the ball. Waters who can shoot and handle the ball...and then Sampson your big boom offensive guy with good length on defense (Mays and Smart with the length for D as well).
What a great problem to have

No doubt. Future is bright!

Waters, Mays, and Sampson are your starters with Smart first off the bench would be my guess and all of themexcept Sampson are legit combo guards.

I wouldn't call Rachal or Edwards ball handlers either, but having 3 true ball handlers is huge. Especially considering all 3 can actually shoot the 3. That's a nightmare for defenses. Having 2 ball handlers on the court at almost all times when you throw Smart in with Waters and Mays. Wow.
And yeah I would start Waters, Mays and Sampson too. Smart will still play probably 20+ minutes a game. And when you need a 3 pick me up Edwards is your guy or if another player is killing you you put Rachal on them.

And what’s great about it is we get these guys till they’re seniors except for Smart. And even Smart should be here 2 years minimum.
ETA: just to be clear I wasn’t calling Edwards and Rachal combo guards.

Really hope he comes along. When you watch him the potential is clear as day. Would love to see him turn it up come conference play.

Anything new on Emmit Williams?

Glad to see this tread back.

How talented is the Julien kid at Madison Prep? They recently won the LCA tourney and everyone said he was the best player at the tourney. He's committed to UL Lafayette. Is he even on Wade's radar? I know we will be loaded with players around his size and skill set next year, but was curious about him. He's running mate Josh LeBlanc is committed to Georgetown. Most over the weekend were saying Julien has more upside then LeBlanc. Thoughts?

Leblanc has much more upside IMO, but Julien has a calm about him that will translate very well to the college game year 1. Needs to add signifigant muscle if he wants to guard larger wings in college, as well as work on speeding up his release on his shot. Julien plays very much under control, both he and Leblanc got looks early on from LSU, but as we narrowed th board and signed the big names no room. Also his game does not really matchup with Wade's brand, not a good or bad thing just style.
Could see both doing very well in there junior and senior years at there respective schools. Leblanc fits perfectly with Georgetown and what they are trying to build. Needs polish on the offensive end though, but both are very tough and play under control. Julien at 6'5 however plays under the rim, but is the type of scorer when he is a junior at UL that could average 15-18 ppg. Leblanc will be a defensive demon.
