Anybody have that big time author you just can't get into no matter how hard you try.

I'd have to say Crichton and Neil Gaiman are two for me.

Loved the Jurassic Park movie as a kid. Love the franchise still. Couldn't make it through the book.

Only Gaiman book I've made it through was stardust and the movie was way better than the book.

Cormac McCarthy

His style is so distracting that I can't enjoy his stories.

I recently tired reading "The 7 habits of Highly successful people" because of the reviews. The author's writing style and me did not gel. I thought he was bad at it, tbh. He would go on a tangent and never stay on subject.

Neil Gaiman for sure. Read The Ocean at the End of the Lane, but it was a struggle. I won't read another one of his books for a while, if at all.

I'm with you on this. I actually really like his stories but struggle with his style so much that it's a chore at times to read his stuff.

Have you tried Sphere, Timeline, or Congo? Those are Chricton's best books IMO.

Robert Ludlum, I didn't like any of the Bourne books.

Bernhard Cromwell. I got really bored with the Saxon Chronicles. Not sure why as I don't typically get bored reading.

My favorite novel of his is 11-23-63.

Excellent. Not horror. More sci-fi

Me and the wife have been meaning to watch the mini series but just haven't gotten around to it. I just feel like ya gotta trudge through so much of the stuff he writes. Like I said just isn't for me.

Mini series is ok. They change a lot but premise remains same.

Now that you mention it I did read timeline and really liked it. Forgot about that one. Need to try out Congo and sphere.

I find it interesting how much style has to do with liking a book or not. For me anyway.
