Moving from an apartment complex in Atlanta back to BR. My son was about two years old. We had the moving truck parked in front of the apartment and were going in and out with furniture loading the truck. Realized we were all inside and my son was not. Went outside and he was standing at the end of the stairs by the road. A van had stopped and a man was talking to him out of the drivers window. My son was reaching up toward the window. When I called my sons name, the van floored it and drove off. Still freaks me out today.

one of my kids disappeared in a mall at around age 3. Thought I was going to die until a mall cop found him and brought him to me 30 minutes later. The things that go through a parents mind in that 30 minutes.... never been so afraid

A tornado appeared in a valley with a small festival. It hit so quickly you couldn't see. I remember seeing sand from the road in formation of a tornado. Trying to escape in a vehicle after it was over-going up a S bend hill and a tree missed falling on the car from the still strong winds by a matter of maybe a few seconds.

Watched a recently released ex-con fire into the living room window of one of my neighbors.

Found someone OD-ing along the side of the road. called 911 and watched the paramedics save his life

Spun out in the middle of the NJ Turnpike (I-95) going 60MPH. I still do not know how no other cars hit us. Had to pull off to the shoulder to let the adrenaline decrease.

Had my one and only allergic reaction back in 2000. My uvula (thing that hangs in the back of your throat) had swollen and blocked my airway. Couldn't breathe for 2 minutes until I figured out that if I leaned far enough forward, it would move out of the way. Still do not know why

Saw a lady going at least 60 mph not turn in a turn that had a posted speed of 35 mph. It had no shoulder and a drop of about 5 feet, well she fly in the air like she was in the Dukes of Hazard and landed in the field on side the road. Luckily it had been raining and the field was wet and the car just kind of slid and sunk. Waited for the paramedics and police after calling 911, and found out she was a regular they knew for drinking and driving and drug use, so she was likely not sober at the time.

I was on I-85 heading N into downtown ATL just on the 75/85 connector about 10 years ago. A car cut off an older model Jeep Wrangler causing the Wrangler to overcompensate at 75mph making a hard left 90 degree then back across 8 lanes of traffic smashing into car on the right. I was slap in the middle and just took my foot off the gas and coasted through the middle. Looked back in the rear view mirror to see the cars pile up one after another. I was leaving the following morning for a 2 week vacation. It was surreal like watching the pile up in slow motion as I went untouched through the middle of it all.

I've found three different dead people on two separate occasions while walking around outside. The first was at a state park when I was 8. Was out walking some trails and came across an elderly man lying off the side of a trail. Never found out what exactly killed him but he was at least 80. The other time was around four years ago when I walked past couple slumped over in a car. I thought it was strange but thought maybe they pulled over to take a nap. When I came back the other way, about 30 minutes later, they hadn't moved at all and I knew something was wrong. I looked in the car and saw their eyes were open and there was heroin paraphernalia scattered around. Obvious overdose so I called 911.

Neither of those were particularity terrifying, although the first one creeped me out because I was so young. My actual most terrifying things that happened in daylight were on deployment and that feels like cheating.

Probably seeing the immediate aftermath of this:

also, seeing my dad fall about 10 feet from a ladder on his back when my brother and I were trying to help him frame a storage room a couple of years ago. I thought that he had really, really fricked himself up, but he ended up just chipping off some transverse processes, or tubercles, and had some nice bruising.

Was at a kid's bday party in someone's front yard. Lots of cars parked on the street. As I'm watching my kids, I notice a kid 6-9 months old had just wandered down the driveway and was standing in the street. I ran down and grabbed him.

With the way the cars were lining the street, the chances of a car driving thru, not seeing anything, and the kid stepping further out was highly likely.

My adrenaline is going again just thinking about what could've happened.

In the early 90's we went to Thunderbird Beach one summer day and a tween boy (about 12) was found under the cement slab people would hang on/off. He apparently came up under it, hit his head on the cement and drowned only to surface about 15 min later. The people around scattered like roaches when the light comes on. Depressed everyone and we along with 99% of the people left afterward.

I leaned over once on a busy street and my pants tore right over my crack. I was commando and I believe several people saw my bunghole when I lingered in the bent over position pointing my balloon knot at them by accident. I finally noticed they could see my pink rosebud after several minutes in that pose and the starfish gazers continued to stare. I puckered a bit then quickly got over it.

When I was in the 6th grade, while I was on my way out the door to catch the bus with my neighbor buddy, a man (early 30s maybe) dressed in mechanic's clothing walked up and asked if he could use our phone. This was odd because he passed several houses without stopping to ask.

Anyway...my friend took off to catch the bus and the guy started acting weird and pretended to make a phone call on our corded wall phone. I stepped into our utility room and leaned against the door frame where my dad kept his 12 gauge H&R for nocturnal defense.

The guy seemed sketched out by something and basically bolted after pacing around for a minute or so. I watched him walk out of sight before heading out. Since I had missed the bus, I had to walk and keep an eye out.

Even though I was pissed at the time, I now think the fact that my buddy saw the guy and then left is probably what saved both of us.

Driving through parking garage, kid comes flying around a blind 90 degree corner straight under my truck. I stopped immediately and thankfully he wasn't hit, just butted up against it.

Driving out of my subdivision and find a 1-2 year old standing alone in the road with no parents in sight, searched, found an open door and the house he had walked out of without them even noticing.

Driving at night in the highway and the opposite lanes are raised above mine. A vehicle in the raised lanes must have popped a tire as a huge chunk came flying down out of nowhere and hit on my windshield squarely where my face was, I assumed it was coming through the glass.

Driving on a 4-5 lane highway tractor trailer next to me clips the rear end of a car in front of him turning the car to where it was perpindicular to the front of the semi and being pushed. Car gets spit out towards the guard rail

Was with my folks in NYC for the bicentennial.
We were getting on the subway, me holding Mom's hand when the doors slammed shut on my wrist. I pulled back instinctively... leaving me on the landing and my folks and older brother all on the train. I was 7.

My Dad, not missing a second, put his face to the glass door, pointed at the floor and bellowed, "STAY RIGHT THERE!"
And ZIPPPPP...they were gone.

I don't remember shite until the plane ride home. They said an old couple saw it happen and stayed with me until they returned, but I don't remember them at all. Just black after the train left...and wet, cold pants.
