This closure creates another eyesore on an already ugly stretch of Sherwood Forest.
Wonder why they shut down?

Wonder why?
Click over to the OT and read the story where they found a dead body this morning just south of Coursey.

Mediocre selection of mediocre donuts and poor service might be to blame. Can't believe the one on Florida is still open.

With options like Southern Maid Donuts and several other donut places in and around BR, why would anyone want a "frozen" donut when you can get fresh options for the same or less?

Kind of surprised. Usually a chain has the backing to make it areas that don't perform well. I remember when they first opened and the cars were lined down the street of Sherwood for a few weeks.
Their donuts were awful and the service their sucked. Cannot imagine what new restaurant will take the plunge and fail in that location.

DD sucks -- they don't even make their donuts fresh anymore; they ship the donuts in frozen (!) and then just stick them in a proofer. Just plain sad -- another company who sacrificed quality for the almighty dollar

few months ago i got their bacon and egg breakfast sandwich
the dryest thing ive ver eaten. huge thick toast with no butter, and the egg cooked enough so no yolk. needed about a gallon of juice to eat it
and i thought their donuts sucked

I think a lot of fast food chain locations are limping to a slow death. People with disposable income aren't really eating fast food anymore, and at least in the South the service is atrocious so there just isn't a point to it.
The stretch of Dunkin-Wendy's-Burger King on Bluebonnet near Burbank consists of empty parking lots most of the time, even though Dunkin was pretty packed (and carried more than 4 types of donuts) when it first opened just a few years ago.

The stretch of Bluebonnet and Burbank you are referring to is home to possibly the worst collection of employees ever gathered in central location in the history of the "fast" food industry. Zero fricks are given at any of these spots.

Dunkin is not an "institution" in the south like it is in the Northeast. Plus, if given the choice between fast-food style stale donuts and fresh donuts made at a place like Mary Lee (who also has great service), the choice is easy.
I like Dunkin's coffee and the different variety of their donuts choices, but it isn't enough for me to go out of my way (often) to get it.
Dunkin would probably do ok within an office building in downtown BR or somewhere like the LSU student union. But not many people are clamoring to go to the stand-alone spots.

Paul, what in your opinion could revitalize that blighted area of Sherwood Forest?

This.
Every time I've ever gotten a donut from there, it tasted like cardboard.

Probably because they weren't profitable.
Most likely because their product sucked. Some of the worst donuts and coffee in town. IMHO.

Yep. Looks like I'll have to go to another donut shop. Oh well, such is life.

Incentives for entrepreneurs who are looking to establish and expand their businesses in that area. Offer more landscaping options to beautify area. This would be an auspicious beginning, at least to get the ball rolling. This area of town did not look this blighted 10-15 years ago. It's getting worse year after year.
