Lange throwing with lower velocity

Was at the game and it seemed like most of lange's fastballs were between 89-91. He's usually 93-94. Is this a sign of fatigue or what? I don't recall him throwing in that range all year. I hope all the 100+ pitch games aren't wearing him down.

I think he slowed it down to get control. Just my 2 cents. He is the stamina.

quote:No he isnt. Langes fadtball typically sits 91-94. He hit 94 in the 6th tonight. Your making something out of nothing.
He's usually 93-94

Sometimes you have to sacrafice velocity when your location isnt there

He was pitching 93-94 so you are wrong. Didn't notice many 89 fb's if any

On tv he hit 95 in the 6th.

he three 94 several times early in the game.

His problem was location. Too many left up in the zone.

Maybe the scoreboard was wrong but he was throwing 88-89 the last couple innings

He was throwing curves.
Posted on 6/4/17 at 12:40 am to Heisenberg Aint Dead
they were shelling his fastball so he started throwing sliders and curves....

He throws a 2 seam more recently, dropping his velo a couple mph

quote:Then you should know better than to say he typically sits around 93-94.
Haven't missed a game.

McDonald talked about it a few weeks ago. Dunn has been working with Lange to have him sit 91-93 and use 94-95 when he needs it. It essentially gives him another pitch plus it allows him to go deeper into games.

Ok that's what I was wondering. I was worried he may be fatigued

He has been siting low 90s all year and when he needs 95, he can reach back and get it. Location was the problem tonight and he adjusted after the 2nd inning.

When all was said and done, he really just had one bad inning. If Slaughter catches that foul in the 1st inning, then Lange would've had 5 out of 6 shutout innings.
Hopefully, his arm is fine. Arm fatigue at this point of the season is always a concern.

Honestly that big 2nd inning doesn't happen if papierski made better throws to 2nd. It was like little league with the way they were stealing on him. Scoring 2 runs on a squeeze play is ridiculous also.
