If "taking something off" results in an earlier release and throwing high in the zone, eff that. He's got the stamina to dish his best all game, it's up to the other team to work him into high pitch counts.

While having the higher velocity later in the game is a benefit (a reverse change up if you will), if guys are having trouble catching up, would rather blow it by them early and often than give them a more hittable ball.

Regardless, dude is a competitor. You get amped up and you give it your all. Hard to not fire it in there like you know you can everytime in order to save your arm 10 pitches later on. Rattle those guys in the batters box early.

That being said, need the bats to stay hot. Hard for the other team to win without runs, but even harder when they need to score a frick ton of them

I believe that you are seeing the difference between a 4 seem and 2 seem fast ball. Both appear straight but the 2 seem has more velocity and a little more movement that's very noticeable if your batting. Both appear to come out of the hand the same to the batter and like someone else has posted, it's another pitch for the batter to adjust too.

Those bases were stolen on Lange not Pap. Pap had no chance with the jump they were getting

Honestly that big 2nd inning doesn't happen if papierski made better throws to 2nd. It was like little league with the way they were stealing on him. Scoring 2 runs on a squeeze play is ridiculous also.

Every one of those steals were stolen on the pitcher.
