Even if it wasn't better their offense was because they were all a year older

Only three of those players were good enough to be drafted
Look at the players that replaced them all drafted
Talent wise the 2005 D was much better and had more players drafted into the NFL
why can't you just admit you are wrong. first you asked for proof, now you are moving the goalposts.
the talent on the 05 defense was mostly fr and so, and they didn't gel until 06, 07 and finally culminated with the monstrous 08 defense.
the 05 defense lost almost all of the starting d-line and linebackers from 04.

So you are trying to say that USC's offensive players either regressed or stayed the same in 2005
The entire team came back on offense
With this there is no way that the 2004 team was better.
You can look at the 2005 and 2006 draft to see this

His numbers about returning starters were obviously made up but still 05 USC > 04 USC
05 USC D is the extremely underrated they played the
#1 Texas
#5 UCLA
#6 Fresno St
#7 Arizona St
#8 Notre Dame
#12 Oregon
#21 Washington St
#25 Cal
ranked scoring offenses and held all of them except Fresno below their scoring average

You should be glad I have two SC teams as the Top 5 college football teams that last 30 years.
I think what puts 2005 Texas as #2 is the fact they are the only team besides UCLA that beat SC in the Rose Bowl in last 25 years

nobody said usc's offense in 05 wasn't better than in 04, as they all had 1 more year under their belt.
usc 04 offense was an A+, the 05 offense was A++
however, the 04 usc defense was an A, while the 05 defense dropped to a C-
04 was a better overall team, its not debatable. the 05 defense got shredded by other teams not nearly as good as Texas.

04 USC was not an A+ offense they got shut down by Cal and Virginia Tech
05 USC is A+++ offense A- defense
04 USC is A offense A defense

that should tell you all you need to know about the 05 usc defense.

are you retarded ? I'm arguing that the 05 usc defense was pathetic.

Unlike Bama that couldn't play power football and they put their QB in positions to get hurt or turn the ball over
You was already hurt going into the game you idiot. You're trying to come pointless excuses for Texas elite run defense giving up 2 100 yard rushing performance despite there hardly being a passing game to defend.
For the like the 3rd time, if you want to play the "if he wasn't hurt game" then it works for Bama too. Almost all of McElroy's throws were short throws and Julio Jones had just 23 receiving yards on 1 catch. You honestly don't think Julio and Maze could've done just a little bit more damage if McElroy was able to throw a pass without hurting himself more?
Texas came into the game giving up 189 passing yards per game. So it's not crazy to think that McElroy could've had 158 passing yards which most likely would've led to a couple scores for Bama.

You are not understanding the point I am trying to make
Penn St found out last year that going into the Rose Bowl and WINNING against USC in a Rose Bowl is tough
2005 Texas did that. They walked into the Rose Bowl against a team that had won 30+ games in their city and won
Everyone doubted that team and ESPN especially was calling that 2005 USC the greatest team ever without debate
I live in California and lived in California at that time and I am amongst SC fans and alumni and they say themselves that 2005 USC was their best team

usc 04 offense was #6 overall scoring offense in the country. they were actually the #1 power 5/bcs offense, as the top 5 schools were from non bcs leagues.

this was your quote, that was clearly false, as it has been proven to you that they lost almost everyone on defense.

You are talking about replacing players who did not become NFL players with players who were drafted
Like I said you lost two DT's.
Those two made a slight difference talent wise on the line but bringing back your entire offense makes up the difference
Both of those teams dominated their opponents all year
Just look at the game for both teams before they matched up
I could say that 2004 Texas was better because of Cedric Benson.
I think 2004 Texas at the end of the year would have beaten 2004 USC like they did in 2005
The truth is Vince Young was unstoppable.
I think especially on this site that game is underrated as people will say 2012 LSU Alabama game was better
2005 Rose Bowl was the greatest game in college football history and even with a USC loss you should still have pride in that team
I am sure if that 4th and 1 was converted you would be saying that was the greatest team ever and the truth is I would agree with you

That's nice n all except USC is a college football team, they don't play in the NFL.
They lost 4 all Americans and 2 all conference players.
And you are looking at the 05 roster and taking into consideration guys who were freshman, whom had little impact, and didn't get drafted until 08.

Fresno St had a great offense that year #6 scoring offense in the country(38 ppg). Fresno scored 4 more than their season average against USC
In 2004 Stanford scored 6 more than their average(22 ppg) vs USC

That Miami team was loaded with talent and people knew it at the time, they would likely crush 10 Auburn.
Yes, they were loaded with talent but a lot of it wasn't developed into what they were in the NFL yet and they were very poorly coached.
They barely beat 8-4 Virginia Tech and 8-4 Boston College. Those teams were QB'd by all-time greats, Grant Noel and Brian St. Pierre...
The best QB thag Miami team faced was Chris Rix
8 of the 12 teams that 01 Miami played threw more INTs on the season than TDs
How do you think their defense would have adjusted from that type of QB play to Cam Newton?
And Auburn's defense would have fared better than most would think.
Ken Dorsey and those Miami RBs are a good comparison to Greg McElroy and the 2010 Bama RBs who the 2010 Auburn defense held in check.
There would be no crushing going on.
