You show is angry. You should pay an officer $40 an hour or whatever their going rate is to give you a police escort home.

I can tell you what the rationale for allowing cops to this is for: In areas where there is going to a predictable unusually high influx of traffic, it is safer for the general public for cops to direct traffic and keep it moving at a better pace than a traffic light or stop sign generally does. It reduces traffic accidents. No one is going to be gunning to get through the yellow/red light with a cop saying when to go. So, the argument (and one accepted by courts) is that it's for the general good of the public, and as such you must obey their directions.

Now, you can disagree with that if you like, but like all laws, a court doesn't give a shite if you think a law is right or wrong.

Then why have traffic lights at all during rush hour traffic? Shut them down all over Baton Rouge during rush hour traffic and have cops direct all traffic in the afternoons.

Now you're are being retarded. Why don't you call the agency the guy works for and voice your concerns? Bitch all you want but when that officer/deputy steps in that intersection he becomes the traffic control device and you have to obey.

OT Lawyers and Cops - police officer directing traffic
So if I want a cop to come direct traffic at my business, they will do it no problem on the tax payers dime? I get directing traffic for a school and even for a church I guess, but a private business?

You are not paying for it. The church, business even the school or the dead guy that has police escort is paying. And they are not off duty and I can guarantee you won't play games with them.

A State Trooper does sit at the Blue Bayou entrance however today the light was out and a black trooper was directing all ways. I went through it twice going into Home Depot and watched him wear out a white guy trying to make a left turn when he had stopped them.

So yeah...just run around that barricade and see how that works out for you.

Sam Haynes, the owner of Blue Bayou, pays off-duty troopers to help traffic flow. I know this because our firm sponsors a safety expo that the troopers do each year. It isn't on the tax payers dime.

Why don't you grow up or take an alternate route home? Doesn't seem like this is anything new and you can't/aren't gonna do shite about it. So either learn some patience or figure out a different route.

I gave you the why. You can agree or disagree. Makes no difference to me.

I remember seeing traffic back up last year because of this. Since he's standing at the entrance to Blue Bayou, I don't think he can see how bad he is messing things up on Highland.
I also noticed that when the park closes because of weather, he's still out there getting paid.

$35/hr, 3 hour minimum. So yeah. Your mileage may vary according to the JD.

Nope, he was there last Friday and all lights were working. I sat through 12 light cycles waiting to turn left onto Old Perkins because he's stopping traffic for all people leaving the park

I sat through it too. It's killing traffic flow on highland, Perkins, old Perkins and the interstate. There were a ton of people trying to beat the lights and sitting out in the middle of highland blocking all directions.

Technically if it's private property then he's out of his jurisdiction and you can fight him if you want.

The cop sits at the other park exit for the fatties that can't be bothered to park and walk across the bridge into the park.

This is the real issue when that place is open every summer. That old exit needs to be shut down or modified in some way that it doesn't back traffic up for miles at that intersection. Anyone leaving from that exit has to make a U-turn and head south on Perkins, causing the traffic on highland and the interstate off ramp to back up a mile.
