This is a big problem and it's not only a Republican problem. Democrat politicians vote with their pocket books too.

not going to argue that fact a lot of politicians do and the voters at home need to remember that. Can trump get to the term limit part of his campaign promises already

Ppl don't run for office for public service. They run to get power first, then money. Lots of politicians become rich after they're elected.

Singling out republicans in this manner loses you any credibility.

Democrats do it too
quote:
Virginia’s Sen. Mark Warner is the Senate’s wealthiest member and has extensive investments in the health care industry. He sits on the Senate Finance Committee’s health care subcommittee. Warner’s investments favor biotech companies, including Holozyme Therapeutics, Intrexon Corporation, Harvest Intrexon Enterprises Fund and MedOptics. His total health care industry stock investments are worth in excess of $1 million.
quote:
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat, owns stock in major insurance companies that benefit from Obamacare, including. Aetna, United Healthcare and Anthem. He also owns stock in many biotech companies, including Amgen, Celgene, Biogen and Gilead, as well as pharmaceutical giant Merck and the prescription-writing company Express Scripts.
quote:
Jointly, Whitehouse and his wife also owns stock in CVS Caremark, Bristol Myers Squibb, Biogen, Gilead, Johnson & Johnson. The Whitehouse family’s total investments in the health care industry totals $805,000.

He's a liberal. He doesn't know better.

if your going to try and insult me you need to do better than liberal. I haven't voted Dem since 2008.
Posted on 5/24/17 at 3:07 pm to hawkeye007
Does it say how long they have held those stocks?

I don't have a going. Don't even know where to get one.
So you didn't vote for Obama in his second term and you didn't get all the way with her? You want an award for being sane?
ETA: You admitted to being a dem today at 2:18pm. I went with what you said.

The remaining 174 representatives who voted for the AHCA did not own any shares in health-care companies, The Daily Beast’s review found. The most recent data is from 2015. Disclosure reports for 2016 were due last week and are not yet fully available.
So they have held the stocks since 2015 or longer...before Trump was elected and Hillary was still thought to win easily.
It's not like they went out and bought a bunch of stock then voted for AHCA.

They wouldn't do that. These are duly elected representatives of the American people.

good catch but what i admitted to was blaming Bush for a lot after Obama was elected i moved on from that and being a dem by the 2008 election. took me awhile but what i figured out is both parties are the same to me. To most on this board i would be a liberal because i don't have the hate for everything Dem most of them do.

We missed you from 2012 until now.

voting with their pocket books. politicians going to politic and we the people suffer.
I don't get it.
The hope of "we the people" is that healthcare stocks do poorly?
Why the hell would "we the people" hold that goal?

don't get me confused i didn't vote for Trump . Cruz and Trump were 2 republicans that where never getting my vote. So i cast my vote for Johnson and moved on. If i vote for a green party next i will have voted for all 4 parties.
