Jordan is number 3 all time in steals. Pretty amazing.
I have always thought it was amazing that Olajuwon is top 10 in steals ever. Being number 8 as a center is insane.
Jordan and Pip were both above that. Those teams had amazing perimeter defense.
You can't go wrong with Jordan or Kareem. It's hard to compare generations and even harder to compare different positions in different generations. A young Kareem was so insanely talented and had an unblockable shot with the sky hook. I really can't pick the better player of the two.

Am I seeing things or are all of his MVP trophies "Steve Nash" awards?!

NBA finals MVP
Kareem 2
Jordan 6
Magic 3
Kareem was great, but he may not have been the best player on his team.
Jordan 6 for 6 in finals- (wins and MVPs)
But his roles in Airplane and vs Bruce Lee are epic

Kareem brought them the dynasty like I said.
Wooden was coming off back to back NCAA titles when Lew arrived on campus

Both right before Kareem got there.

The 81 game win streak was years after Kareem graduated.
Get your facts straight if you want to argue something.

Ahem, Mr. Maravich disagrees. Alcindor had ridiculously unfair lineups in college and the GOAT coach.

What I always found very impressive about Kareem's career and legacy was that he maintained such consistency and longevity for practically his entire career, 20 82-game seasons. This guy was winning Finals MVPs, earning all-pro honors, and leading the Los Angeles Lakers in the major statistical categories in his late 30s/early 40s until Magic finally supplanted him in 87. Also can't forget game 6 of the 88 Finals when Kareem drained 2 FTs to elevate the Lakers past the Pistons and force a game 7 at age 41, saving the team's repeat hopes. Not even MJ could remain a viable NBA player at this similar age when he was with the Wizards and basically responsible for the entire team composition per his duties in their front office. The "exalted" MJ had all the power in the building and yet couldn't even build a winner when he returned again, so that serves to further make my point about Kareem exceeding MJ in terms of legacy.

Using career totals makes a lot of sense when you compair a 20 year career to a 15 year career.
Kareem played 488 more games than MJ.
the greatest scorer all time had how many scoring titles? 2
MJ had 10.

The hell I don't! LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!

As usual, another idiotic thread borne out of great ignorance. Kareem may have had the best career, but he is not anywhere near the top player. Kareem won championships surrounded by the most elite talent of anyone as did Magic Johnson. Neither of those ever lifted his team on his back, except for Magic in one game 7.
Magic Johnson won most of his championships with three #1 picks on his teams. He never won a championship with less than two #1 picks.
The same for Kareem, except for maybe his first.
Shaq would have destroyed Kareem, bottom line.
Larry Bird won one championship with one #1 pick on his teams and that #1 pick was was reduced to an old, role player at that point.
Michael Jordan won all of his championships with zero #1 picks if IRC.

Lumping Magic in with Kareem is foolish..... Magic made every teammate better when he was on the floor... you cant say that about Kareem.... a great career, but not close to the best of all time......

No GOAT can have played before 2005, the year I was born.

You do realize the NBA MVP was selected by NBA players until the 1979-80 season right? Kareem was selected MVP by his peers. Sportswriters selected Jordan.
