So pissed. Was just about to go see him in Tuscaloosa a few weeks back and didn/t Soundgarden and Audioslave are some of my favorite bands of all time. Basically been listening to this guy since I was a child in various bands. Always awesome. Sad fricking day.

I saw them in Fort Myers a few weeks ago for the first time. So glad I did! I bet my friend that they'd open with Spoonman and they did. It was one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

Agree 100%. I went through many different favorite songs from Badmotorfinger at different times and this was #1 for quite some time. Fantastic.
Will never forget seeing them in a small club in Jax on an off-night of their '91-'92 tour with GnR. They opened with Searching With My Good Eye Closed, complete with the intro as the band came onstage. It was absolutely epic.

Lot of people saying the last track he played live was In My Time of Dying

6 minute mark or so...
Also, everything I have read says he has sung it several times this tour so this was not the first time, FWIW.

I just looked up confirmed setlist...
"Slaves & Bulldozers (w/In My Time of Dying refrain)"
Crazy man...

They did the same two of the three times I saw them. That is my favorite Soundgarden song.

Saw them live during the 91-92 GnR tour (1/4/92) in Biloxi. I will never forget being blown away by a band I didn't know and became a fan that day. Sad day.

Initial reports were hanging not drugs.
Which goes hand in hand with wife being worried and him passing so quick (show ended late and he was found quickly after it seems). Sounds like he gave her a goodbye and did it fast after if reading between the lines.
As to the last song- seems it was the encore most of this month. Could be coincidence, could be a final farewell he wanted but wasn't ready for earlier- either side would be pure speculation

Am I the only one who got reports of this being a Michael Hutchence auto erotic asphyxiation thing?

Cobain --- shocking to me at the time
Andrew Wood --- not a huge shock (most don't mention MLB when talking grunge for some reason)
Staley --- not a huge shock
Weiland --- not a huge shock
Cornell --- huge shocker. He always seemed very stable considering, at least publicly. Guess we'll have to wait and see what the cause was.
This is grunge only; as Dimebag was on another level and hit me like a ton of bricks.
Glad I was able to catch Soungarden with NIN a couple years ago at The Woodlands.

It's possible at this point-- but would be weird for his wife to call to have him checked on unless she was aware of what was going on specifically

Just seems unfathomable to me how someone can perform in front of thousands of adoring fans and then go kill himself. Not like he was washed up or anything. I'm holding out hope that it was natural type causes.

Fame does not equal happiness....
That said, it's surprising given all we would know on the public side. He appeared to have done well with getting a hold on his addiction, being a good family man... you just never know though

You could tell that he had a lot of pain inside, and he talked openly about struggling with depression since a very young age.
I am utterly in shock though. Seeing his acoustic show was on my bucket list.
