Subject says it all. Had a tick in me Friday after going fishing. Bite spot has swollen up with reddening around it. And now a red ring has formed a little bit off of it.

Lots of sites say to seek medical attention immediately but they also say Lyme Disease is rare in Alabama.

It's been nice knowing you, TD.

Either should be fine. Doxycycline is the antibiotic you need. Don't let them give you anything else.

I wouldn't go to the ER tonight, but I'd go to the doctor this week. Of it's Lyme disease as long as you catch it in the first 10 days or so you are fine.

Doc in a box is still open so I'm headed there now. I can easily hop over to the ER though.

Lyme won't kill you, but it can end your life. Don't frick around even if you think that is it.

Diagnosing it is pretty damn hard too.

Ticks worry me more than snakes. Don't know why but they do. They creep me out.

Had the same thing and went to an urgent care within 48 hrs of finding the tick and noticing the bullseye rash. Doc prescribed some antibiotics and I was fine. Only went because a buddy of mine picked up a tick in the same area, didn't notice for a couple days, then his doc missed why he had 104 degree fevers (because he didn't mention the tick in his history). He was miserable for 2-3 weeks. Don't mess around. Go asap, make sure you tell them you pulled one off you.

Seriously though, make sure they give you doxycycline. My brother had rocky mountain spotted fever (very similar to lyme disease but from the dog tick) and he was given Bactrim.

Doxycycline for tick bites is like 1st year med school level. Just make sure they don't screw that up. He ended up getting very sick and did have to go to the ER. I couldn't write him a prescription because he was in another state.

After reading the internet medical pages, I convinced myself I had aids at 16 because I banged a nasty chick and the rubber broke.

After bloodwork, turns out I didn't have them

They are going to give you antibiotics for Lyme whether it is or not. Wait till the morning and go see your doc. Incubation period isn't that fast. Wouldn't worry with the ER.
