I still want to know if a Harley will start up if the rider isn't wearing a Harley t-shirt

Motorcycles have EPA/noise requirements just like cars. People choose to remove them(illegally). If you build a hotrod you aren't going to put on an exhaust system that makes it sound like a Camry. Just the way it is.

It has gotten much worse on the Trace but still nowhere near the level as what the Blue Ridge is experiencing. The Trace has really picked up enforcement the last month on the Parkway for speeding motorcycles so hopefully that will help curve the problem.

I just had a coworker get a Harley. He now wears a leather vest with a skull and Carries his helmet into the office like he thinks he is a badass. It's pretty funny.

He is deaf so I don't think he realizes how annoying his bike is.

The trash is everywhere. The unlimited financing of motorcycles and seadoos will eventually come to an end and your road will be peaceful again. I think it takes a pretty low functioning adult to get excited about making a bunch of motor noise. Don't they know the engineers put a lot of work into making hints quieter? Jesus, just listen and watch a Honda quietly idle and compare it to the vibration machine Harley.

I camped on the Trace yesterday. Those loud bikes were the only thing that sucked.

quote:

I live on a nice, winding, barely 2-lane country road in TN that connects to the Natchez Trace. If you don't already know, thousands of adults like to hit the Trace to 'play biker' on beautiful TN weekends. These clowns are replete with brand new (stiff) leathers, boots, and every other accoutrement this wannabe-counterculture deems 'badass'.

Often these folks will detour down my otherwise peaceful road in order to make a loop. Very few of the bikes are equipped with acceptable sound dampening, and they are often blaring a radio (I don't get this...but whatever). The bikes are so loud that they sometimes scare my 4yo daughter and my son will hold his ears.

Shouldn't this be considered 'noise pollution' and restricted by law?

Your premise is absurd.

Wait, you're a Bama fan, that explains the stupidity.

This is America. Everyone should be free to do what they want when they want it...unless I don't like it. Then It should be illegal. Seems fair.

A few seconds of loud noise! Oh No!

I generally like briefly loud things. Music, bikes, F-18s.

If I had a bike, I'd want the loudest pipes possible. Only reason being is for safety. People are already not paying attention to driving so having a loud bike when you are in someone's blind spot on the interstate...
