It's bamaatl, is it really a stretch to believe that he hates white people?

I guess not. But for some reason this always has to be some one else's fault. I think an American town without drinking water is an American problem. Immediately you see "that's what you get with democrats" and "THANKS REPUBLICANTS". It's insane how no one can actually just be an adult and ignore politics for a second to help an issue. If the other person was in charge during the said problem, then instead of helping, we use that as material to run against that side for the next cycle. Just sick of it.

They are worth next to nothing and are worth even less after everyone gets evicted.

Flint is a horribly run city. It sounds like they need a lot of new hardware and subsurface infrastructure. That as far beyond what they can possibly afford especially in one large project.

state intervened and caused this problem.
The problem was the use of water from the Flint River, which was a city/county plan dating back to 2007. They could have reconnected to the original Lake Huron source (which is where Detroit gets their water), but declined. This is on the city of Flint for making poor decisions. It's on the state for failing to clean up their river. It's on Flint's former manufacturing giants that used to line the river for damaging the water quality to begin with.
Having known how bad the water quality was, the city should have never even planned to use the Flint River as a source. I suppose the state should have prevented such lunacy before it even started somehow.
The Flint River is so corrosive that almost immediately after it became the primary source of water, a General Motors truck plant had to find an alternate source. The water was corroding equipment and piping in their factory. That's how bad it was.

As I understood the issue, there was nothing wrong with treated Flint River water. The problem was when they switched, they didn't put the required chemical into the treated water that prevented lead from older pipes from leeching into the water.
I forget where exactly that breakdown occurred. I do know the state knew about it and didn't disclose it to residents.

It is, the Republican governor appointed a special administrator who fricked their water system.
Well, this just isn't true.

The Feds knew it, too, I believe. And didn't notify anyone.

The whole Flint issue was caused by BOTH parties screwing the pooch, and as a result the people.
Government gonna government though.

June 2012-April 2013: Flint Looks For Cheaper Water
Flint officials explore whether the city can save money by switching from its current provider, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD). City and state officials weigh an alternative: Flint could build its own pipeline to connect to the Karegnondi Water Authority (KWA). That option was projected to save the region $200 million over 25 years, according to City Council meeting minutes.
On April 16, Flint Emergency Manager Ed Kurtz tells the state treasurer that the city is going to join the KWA. A day later, Detroit's water system tells Kurtz it is terminating service to the city effective a year later, in April 2014.
Ed Kurtz, FYI, was the Republican-appointed emergency manager for Flint.

Shouldn't that Obama dude have taken care of this years ago?

When you need a straight line, just get two data points.

When you're asking "who switched Flint to the water that screwed them" the answer is clearly "the Republican-appointed EM", not "the Democrats".
But I'm sure you can lie to yourself and pretend it was the big bad Dem's fault like everything else.

He has. Both he and Obama. Obama signed a bill late last year that authorized the EPA to upgrade water systems all across the country. It specifically allocated $100 million to Flint. That funding was release this past March.
I was thinking that this was the case...but at my age there was a very strong possibility that I was dreaming this.

You forgot this little tidbit:
quote:
On March 25, 2013, the purchase of 16 million gallons per day from the KWA was approved by the Flint City Council.
The democratic city council voted on it. The Republican EM approved it.
BOTH parties are at fault. Not just one.
