The case will be the first time under Attorney General Jeff Sessions that the department has publicly declined to prosecute officers investigated for possible wrongdoing in a high-profile case, and officials in Baton Rouge have been girding for possible reaction there.

For those that don't keep up with politics and the media, the Washington Post has been the primary outlet for leaks from inside the government that are intended to disrupt and damage the Trump Admin.

The above quote from the article is the entire point of the leak. The leaker is likely a DOJ source that is opposed to the Trump Admin and called up his contact at WaPo to let them break it under the condition that they implement the narrative that this decision by the DOJ be yoked over the necks of Trump and Sessions rather than Obama/Lynch with no regard as to whether the Lion's share of the investigation had been performed under the previous administration.

Wow.... well IMO the right call on this one.....

It's simple... if he would have just complied this would not be an issue and three police officers would still be alive... As would Sterling.....

Any idea how how long it will take Jeff Landry to put an actual end to this mess, or is it possible he shocks everybody and brings state charges?

To all of the ignorant pricks you encounter saying that there were peaceful protests last time, remind them of the degenerates that they support - Here's some of the aftermath of the shooting documented on the Sterling Shooting wiki page:
quote:

On July 9, a protest in Baton Rouge turned violent, with one police officer having several teeth knocked out and eight firearms (including three rifles, three shotguns, and two pistols) being confiscated from New Black Panther Party members. Police arrested 102 people.

On July 10, between 30 and 40 people were also arrested including African-American Muslim activist Blair Imani.

On July 11, a home in Baton Rouge was raided in connection with a pawn shop burglary in which seven or eight guns and ammunition were stolen. Three people were arrested during the raid, one of whom said the group was planning on using the stolen firearms to shoot police officers at protests.

On July 17, Gavin Eugene Long shot and killed three police officers and wounded several others in Baton Rouge. Long was killed at the scene during a shootout with responding officers. The shooting has been linked to the nationwide tension over race and policing, with the event happening days after Sterling's death in the same city.

Just checking in to ask if the Justice Dept had put out a statement or if everything was still based on "anonymous sources" TIA

There are going to be so many vacation days used up by the protesters the next few weeks that Q3 & Q4 are going to be crazy productive.

The Justice Department has decided not to bring charges against the officers involved in the death of Alton Sterling, whose videotaped shooting by police in Baton Rouge prompted unrest across the city, and is planning to reveal in the next 24 hours that it has closed the probe, according to four people familiar with the matter.
