I also like the show and I'm a fan of Jones and think he's a great choice for Mr. Nancy I don't think you need to make a political statement in the show. Seems like every show wants to do that nowadays. It's getting tiresome.

That scene went on for waaaay too long. I wonder if any Muslims will get upset over it.

Lots of Muslim men have sex with each other and adolescent boys.

So we learned that despite all of the criticism they've received, Aladdin could have ended very differently, and we should all thank Disney for that.

That scene as it played out in the series is even more disturbing in the book. It is the one section of the somewhere in America of the book that I was hoping they would skip over or show very quickly.

I told my wife of all the things they have taken liberties with and changed from the book to the series, This is the one they decide to do pretty much as it was written in the book.

So did the passenger become the driver, or did the driver morph into the passenger (and will do the same with his next passenger)?

I thought that the bank guard at the deposit scam sounded familiar...

Really hitting it's stride.

Me and the wife are enjoying it. Ian McShane is killing it. Even Shadow had some good lines, some nice dark humor going on.

Visually this show is stunning as hell. The rain scene was awesome.

It already got renewed for a sesaon 2 (I'm wondering if they get the entire book covered in 10 episodes or not and continue the story or what for S2)

I don't see them finishing it in one season unless they just put their foot to the pedal and completely rush through it.
I have a good idea where they will break it off at.
It would a logical break point setting up Season 2.

Haven't seen the show yet (not a Starz subscriber) but I just finished the book. Excellent read. It did take a bit to get accustomed to the story but after that I couldn't put it down. And when I was finished I was disappointed that it was over.

I fricking love this show. It's bizarre as hell. There is nothing like it on TV and there was nothing like it I had ever read before. The adaptation is both faithful and unique. Really enjoying it.

Aside from being a big frick you to conservatives, particularly those in the Muslim community, it was important to the plot going forward I think.

Salim walked out of the hotel with a new life, one unrestrained from his family's expectations. He walked out with acceptance of himself and with courage and conviction.

The ifrit felt validated again. No one in America notices him, really notices him (they all think he grants wishes), until Salim. In the previous episode, the ifrit is actually seen walking by Wednesday and Shadow wearing Salim's suit. I think he will join Wednesday and Shadow in Wisconsin and be part of the war and the catalyst for his participation was his experience with Salim.

And I never actually thought of it in the book or in the show as a matter of homosexual behavior, but as a god/angel and human interaction that was sexual in nature.

In the book though, Salim becomes essentially trapped as the cab driver as I recall. In the show he is released to be a new person. Different takes on the same scene. Given? that Fuller is gay, it makes sense that he would want this scene to be freeing for Salim.

As to why it lasted so long, hard to say other than they wanted to show just how different and otherworldly sex with a god or angel is.
