In the book though, Salim becomes essentially trapped as the cab driver as I recall. In the show he is released to be a new person. Different takes on the same scene. Given? that Fuller is gay, it makes sense that he would want this scene to be freeing for Salim.

I just finished the book and although it is a bit subtle, it is definitely implied that Salim feels pretty good about the change - he uses the "I do not grant wishes" line, he feels "strangely light headed", he asks himself "how hard can it be", and he tosses the keys in the air and catches them and puts the sunglasses on and goes to look for "his" cab.

As to why it lasted so long, hard to say other than they wanted to show just how different and otherworldly sex with a god or angel is.

This is also similar in the book.

Yeah I always got the idea from the book that Salim welcomes the change. He felt so much pressure in his old life from his brother in law and other family. Now he can be free to be how own man.

I'll take both your words for it. It has been over a decade since I read it.

It would a logical break point setting up Season 2.

Show might be losing me. Too much Laura last night on a limited amount of episodes in a season. I simply didn't care that much to have an entire episode to her. The reveal at the end was even meh to me. That's the kind of stuff TWD did very late in the seasons and this show already has done it on the 4th episode.

I understand they are trying to get us to have an emotional attachment to her but I felt the same as I did before that she is a slut. All they did was show what happened. The only part that was cool was when she was with Anubis. They could have just showed the beginning of the show with her and Anubis and went from there.

Same here. Could have cut it in half and been much better.

I made it 1.5 episodes for this show. Being weird just for weird's sake is not fun for me.

Does it get more digestable as it goes on?

It's an interesting hour of TV each week.

This week, we got to see Dane Cook in distress. Which was nice.

This episode last night was probably the most digestible. only because it focused on Shadow's wife and the affair in flashbacks for most of the time. You got one Anubis scene and then him again in the "real world". There also was a female Zombie Ninja that was kinda funny. But other than that no Gods or much supernatural stuff and no Mr. Wednesday at all.

I like the show a lot. But there certainly are "weird just to be weird" moments overall in the series.

I'm glad the fate of Dane Cooks character was his wife shoving his own severed cock up his arse and burying him that way.

Tonight's episode was the best yet.

Gillian Anderson.....wow

No clue who Crispin Glover is but man, he played the hell out of that scene. Creepier than he's ever been.

Haven't watched last night's episode yet, but hoping someone can answer this question from last week. Was one of the two black morticians that Audrey and Laura encountered on the road (and fixed Laura up) the same dude that was from her "afterlife" where he tried to make her get into the hot tub, etc.?

Thanks. Haha I was watching last week's episode with a friend of mine who hadn't seen any of them. That is definitely not the type of show where you can jump in randomly and know what's going on. Kind of hard to explain shitting and vomiting embalming fluid.
