Muslim refugees straining minnesota health sector due to disease outbreaks

It is against muslim tradition to vaccinate children, and muslim parents in Minneapolis are reintroducing measles into the environment because of it.

An outbreak of measles is sweeping through a community of Somali refugees in Minnesota and the growing number of cases may be starting to test the limits of the Hennepin County healthcare system.
According to reports from the health commissioner’s office, there are now 30 cases of children in Hennepin County who have been diagnosed with measles, and 28 of them are Somali children who have not been vaccinated. All of the cases involve children 5 years of age and younger.
There have been 10 new cases of measles reported in Hennepin County in just the last four days.
What’s worse, the outbreak has now spread to Ramsey and Stearns counties, where two more cases have now been reported, making a total of 32 cases in Minnesota as of 1:30 p.m. Friday.
The first Minnesota case was reported in March and has been steadily growing each week.

Send them to SoCal and the Bay area...since they love them some refugees. Hell, drop them of at Pelosi's and Wolowitz's place and "Let Them In"...don't know his real name, which is a good thing.

Apparently the International Medical Council on Vaccinations believes this too? Perhaps you two know more than they do?

And so does the source article:
Dr. Andrew Bostom, M.D., an academic internist specializing in general internal medicine who has also authored several books about the history of Islam, said Muslim communities often prove difficult to convince that vaccinations are appropriate for their children.
“The case against vaccinations is first an Islamic one,” he said, citing a 2011 article by Dr. Majid Katme, spokesman for the Islamic Medical Association in the United Kingdom.
“We are giving our innocent children haram [forbidden] substances and harmful chemicals that destroy their natural immune systems, causing disease, suffering and death,” Dr. Katme wrote.

Now, I don't normal take what WND says, but when it is backed up by the International Medical Council on Vaccinations, I would say it makes his statement seem a bit more true.
However, as i said...perhaps you two know more about this than the medical professionals and the Muslims. (Muslims are quoted in the International Medical Council on Vaccinations article.
Mind sharing your sources that they have absolutely no problem with vaccinations, so we can make an informed decision?

Are you a Muslims? Or why are you so certain that they have no problem with it? I just linked an article saying they did, indeed have a problem with it from a medical web site.

A MUSLIM doctors’ leader has provoked an outcry by urging British Muslims not to vaccinate their children against diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella because it is “un-Islamic”.
Dr Abdul Majid Katme, head of the Islamic Medical Association, is telling Muslims that almost all vaccines contain products derived from animal and human tissue, which make them “haram”, or unlawful for Muslims to take.
Islam permits only the consumption of halal products, where the animal has had its throat cut and bled to death while God’s name is invoked.

Granted, this is changing, but don't do a knee jerk reaction to what the OP said, because he is correct. There are too many sources backing up exactly what he said.
You just look silly when you don't do research.

This is incorrect - Muslims have no religious restrictions on vaccination. The fact that refugees from developing countries might have less access to vaccines is certainly true, but that has nothing to do with their religion.

According to the International Medical Council on Vaccination, it is true.
You should do more research on your 'sources'. From their "about" page:
quote:
The International Medical Council on Vaccination is an association of medical doctors, registered nurses and other qualified medical professionals whose purpose is to counter the messages asserted by pharmaceutical companies, the government and medical agencies that vaccines are safe, effective and harmless.
These are not the people you want to believe when you're looking for facts.
