The other side to that in UHC systems is that if you are unhappy with the NHS in Britain for instance. You purchase supplemental private insurance that's selling point is access to pioneer treatments/drugs and lower wait times for specialty doctors.
fine
take what we spend on Medicare and Medicaid and provide government care with that money split among the entire population
that way everyone is covered by money we already spend
then, allow people to buy private healthcare coverage
win, win, win

I still don't understand how it's reasonable to expect insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions.
Very simple, it isn't.

I'm not going to defend a Dem who does the same. It's wrong no matter who does it. This isn't a right vs left issue. It's Congress viewing themselves as a ruling class who are able to exempt themselves from rules they want us to follow.
I agree 100%. Congress should be subject to the exact same benefits, penalties and laws that the rest of the country is subject to. PARTICULARLY when involved with those benefits, penalties and laws that are imposed by them.

Most Americans have cable TV and cell phones.
The problem isn't the means, it's the allocation.

Pretty obvious that the repeal bill wouldn't pass the Byrd Rule in the Senate without this exemption. The Senate will be able to put it back in.
If the bill is signed into law with the exemption still intact, THAT will be the time to get pissed off about this.

I worked at a school that had 25% SPED population and 99% free/reduced lunch population. Every single student had a nicer phone and more expensive shoes than me. Most had really expensive headphones to go with their very nice phones. The poor in our country really aren't poor. If people were truly poor then our poor population wouldn't be fat as hell.

Shocker, Republican Congressmen are okay with the people losing pre-existing condition coverage many of the same Republican congressmen (as well as Trump) promised they would preserve but they're looking out for themselves.

Straight up bullshite by a party I somewhat support. Nobody should have pre-existing conditions coverage in their insurance. That alone makes it not really insurance anymore.

You're basically asking them to be a coupon for your medical care.
Which is why we should have a public option that is non-profit.

How should this public option work in your opinion? Will it force me to subsidize others?

How do you suggest we motivate doctors to practice their craft? Gunpoint?

Yes.

We already have Doctors and Nurses working at public hospitals such as the VA. Those jobs are fairly highly sought after in many markets.

Yes. You live in a society. We chip in because we care. If you dont care you should be made to chip in anyway. Very similar to how conservatives feel about welfare people. Liberal people have had to send a lot of money to the military over the years bc of blind conservative trust in the military industrial complex...now maybe you can stfu and chip in for something that actually helps fellow Americans....since you guys are so patriotic and all

I'll tell you this. Canadiens living near the US border, even though they have to pay, often times come across the border for their health care.
The reverse is true as well with Americans travelling to Mexico and Canada in order to be able to afford basic prescriptions.

Well I'm completely against sending all that money to the military industrial complex. I'm also against the government taking money from my child's college fund to subsidize the lazy POS down the street and the millions of illegal aliens sucking our welfare system dry. Honestly if we started deporting people and only allowed American citizens subsidized healtcare I would be on board with you. I would also want food stamp reform. Basic food items only and no hot foot from grocery stores. Welfare queen shouldn't be using tax dollars to buy boiled crawfish.

You know why they are so expensive in America right?

I agree with almost all of that though i would say the thoughts about welfare are a little more hyperbole than reality. I agree that food stamps should have more limitations. I dont think that lots of capable people are receiving lots of money for nothing. You or i couldn't get welfare if we tried. Its pretty difficult, actually.

Where do you live? It's not very hard from what I can see. I wouldn't get any because I make too much money but don't have a job, be a single mother, and boom your in. Like I said in the other post I wouldn't mind subsidizing her healthcare but man we gotta quit subsidizing people coming into our country illegally.
