It's not the pitching and it's not the hitting

It's the absolute lack of mental toughness and baseball intuition and that is on the head coach.
Skip's teams thrived in pressure situations during games and performed best when it mattered most. PM's players underperform when key situations present themselves during games.
Skip had a knack for inserting a pitcher or batter that would handle the game situation extremely well. PM's in game instincts are exactly the opposite. He constantly makes in game decisions that don't work.
PM doesn't have mental toughness or good baseball instincts and this trait is carried down to his players.

Like somebody said a while back, this team is as soft as Maineiri's voice.

I am someone who does not closely follow LSU but closely follows baseball in general. And from the LSU games I've seen this year, this comes to mind: "The whole is less then the sum of the parts"

He ran his mouth about "eating crow" and LSU baseballs demise after the luckiest at Arkansas...........well the chickens have come home to roost PAWWWL! GTFO

Your points are well taken but I would add pitching and hitting to the list of problems. Other than that, everything is fine.

The head coach can only do so much. There comes a time where the players have to get out there and fricking play baseball....shite.
I do agree with you though, Paul is soft as baby shite. But at the same time, he can't hit for them. These are kids on scholarship to play at LSU. They're good. They aren't playing up to their potential also. It's not all on Paul.

It's time for a new coach, new blood

Teams take on the personality of their coach. This team noticeably didn't give a shite anymore. Mainieri looks like a lost puppy in the dugout. His staff doesn't have a single teacher of the game other than Dunn. It's ridiculous at this point.

It's Paul. He needs to go.

How long can you hold your breath?
7 years?

Everything is always on the coach. Our talent is great and our opposition weak.
Can you be any more delusional?

Agreed, but we have been a team of chokers since that Raph/Katz team that grounded into a double play to end every single postseason inning they played.

This excuse didn't work for the other two.

I will be honest, I do not see the pride of representing LSU Baseball and LSU in many players on this team. This can go for a few sports on campus (Football, Men's Hoops, Baseball). It's about the glitz, glamour, Instagram likes, and Twitter followers, instead of trying to perfecting their craft. It is about cutting the line at Bogie's and taking selfies with former LSU greats rather than creating their own legacies. Disappointing overall and I believe that a team is a direct reflection of their Coach. I have not given up on this team, but all they have talked about is how bad they want it. Actions speak a little louder than words.

LSU should beat a .500 Tulane team 9 outta 10 times bro. Problem is Tunale has been whipping Paul since 2015. UNACCEPTABLE

You do raise some good points.
I like Mainieri, I know right now that opinion is very unpopular but it's not without some points he can improve on.
One of his biggest flaws is leaving pitchers in too long, particularly but not limited to, relief pitchers. I said this in another thread too.
He puts in another pitcher, if that pitcher struggles, he waits and sees if he can work out of a jam. I completely get that.
With that being said, when that pitcher plunks two batters issuing them each a free pass, then walks another batter, then the following batter is also walked, walking in a run, it's obvious that the kid is rattled. No need to prolong the inevitable at that point, at least to me.
That kid tonight was rattled beyond repair and he threw 9 straight balls, hit a batter and walked in three runs for Tulane. That's insane. Why keep in him there for so long? I don't follow that thinking.
See if he can get out of a jam is one thing. This scenario was terrible, no wonder the kid was shook up.

This team has no LEADER! The coaches are blah, they just stand there, no fire, the seniors aren't leaders, I haven't seen or heard of the seniors rallying this team at all, they have taken the lead of there coaches, blah ... I believe a change is needed to put some life in this team.

it damn sure IS about the hitting and the pitching.
I agree that the team lacks mental toughness. no one steps up and makes a play when one is needed. no one gets a hit with men on base (rarely) and pitchers issue so many free passes that those alone score enough to beat us.

This is ridiculous. Paul is doing a shitty coaching job and the team is not playing up to their potential but if you think any of the stuff you just posted has anything to do with the team's bad performance you are a dumbass.
Go look at Oregon State or TCU's baseball players instagram or Alabama football players snapchat, I guarantee it looks very similar to LSU's players.
