Americans want flying monkeys and cars that run on dreams and wishes.

Thanks for your comprehensive reply.
I would like to continue this but not I have to dash off to run some errands that cannot be put off.
I hope we continue this later or tomorrow.
Good day sir.

quote:Well said. Indeed nothing is more "trickle down" than "let's take the 'rich' people's stuff and give it to ourselves". It's naked greed as well.
this not only ignores the fact that governmental policy, by its very nature, is purely reactionary, but it also creates this false equivalency between governmental intrusion into markets and how free markets operate. when you talk about capitalism and communism with real fans of communism (note: not found on this board), you see this false dichotomy. they have no idea how capitalism actually works and thinks it's this "top down" system, because their economic worldview is that very system. the ultimate irony is that real socialism/communism is a complete "trickle down" system, as the government owns everything and decides who gets what, what needs to be produced, and where all of these things occur.
Ultimately they don't understand the difference between supply constraints and excess demand constraints. BamaATL demonstrated that in the other thread like a champ.

quote:Correct. That accounts in part for both the expense and inefficiency. When US healthcare was more of a free market, it was far far less expensive.
Health care is not . . . a free market.
quote:For those who can circumvent the system, heathcare was, is, and always will be a free market.
Health care . . . will never in the future be a free market.

How about the parents who are told after their son is born that he has Downs Syndrome and will need medical care for all his life?
If only there had been a way to deal with such situations before the ACA. Oh, wait. That's right. There was.
