re: At what point will you say Lebron is better than Jordan was?

Plenty of teams in the playoffs field were better than those Warriors.
They were just the perfect nightmare matchup for the Mavs. CLE was nowhere near as adverse a matchup.

But...Lebron

I think you said this backwards for the point you were trying to make
Regardless, mine still stands--Cavs weren't beating seeds 1-3 in the West that year. Doesn't diminish his accomplishment in getting there, though.

When he doesn't play on a super team.

Jordan played with 2 other HOFers, right?

Jordan's first three titles had far less talent than any of Lebron's title teams. People forget that Rodman was 34 when he joined the Bulls. Hardly a super star at that point. More like a regular All Star.

I would if they joined up with each other. There is a different between All Stars and Super Stars. McHale and Worthy were not super stars.

It's like some of you people just regurgitate what you heard some talking head say and don't even think for yourselves. Who has won an NBA title not on a "super team" besides Dirk in 2011?

I haven't read much of this thread, and am obviously late to it. But I don't understand how saying someone is "not better than Jordan" has become such a drastic insult.
I am one of the ones that think Jordan is the best ever. And I am not a fan of Lebron at all, but I am not stupid enough to sit here and say he isn't one of the best to ever do it as well. My opinion is that Jordan is/was "better." But why do Lebron fans take that as some huge insult when every single other basketball player in history falls into that same exact category?

i think it's more of an argument about how you have the argument, where you don't even get to teh real discussion/comparison
like some people stick with the completely insane "never lost a finals" argument (you see it in this thread). these same people were literally using it against LBJ when he lost his first finals. he was 21 or 22 at the time. i don't think Jordan had even made the playoffs by the same age and Lebron was leading a team to the finals...and that's a negative against Lebron?

Exactly. I've never argued Lebron is better in this thread. I'm arguing against this terrible logic that is used against him. If he wins the next three finals and is 6-4, there are still gonna be people that use 6-0 as a trump card and that is absolutely absurd and I feel shows an extreme lack of intellect.
Now if you think Lebron at 6-4 is still not as good as Jordan because he still hasn't surpassed him in actual play on the basketball court, that makes sense. Though if he were to win the next 3 titles (four straight), he would have to be doing some amazing things on the court, which could very well leapfrog him above Jordan in terms of sheer basketball playing prowess.

I still want someone to explain to me why LeBron coming back from down 3-1 to the GREATEST REGULAR SEASON TEAM OF ALL-TIME THAT LITERALLY BROKE A RECORD SET BY YOUR PRECIOUS MICHAEL JORDAN'S '95 BULLS and winning a championship for CLEVELAND, THE FIRST ONE FOR THE CITY IN 52 YEARS, isn't given more credence and value, just like how MJ's 6-0 in the Finals is.
How can all the LeBron haters use the twisted logic of MJ going to 6 and winning 6 without using similar logic to count last year as basically 2 championships? Or counting 2007 as a championship itself, as LeBron literally dragged a team of nobodies to the Finals at 22 and then lost to one of the greatest dynasties the NBA has ever seen?
That's my main issue with the pro-MJers. I agree that MJ's legacy is still greater than LeBron's, but LeBron is a better all-around player than MJ and his legacy, when you look at everything he has done and all of the expectations he has exceeded, is damn near as good as MJ's right now. Neck and neck IMO. One more championship to LeBron should ensure that he's the GOAT to me.

Never! LeBron lost in the finals. Jordan was 6 for 6. Jordan had heart, LeBron doesn't he's soft.
