Spent the last two nights in the ER with my girlfriend, doctors say she exhibits all the signs/symptoms of mumps, but her medical records show she had all of her MMR vaccinations. Doctors/nurses are all confused by it, but prescribed her with 5mg hydrocodone, 320 mg acetomenophin, and 400 mg ibuprofen for pain/swelling.

Even with all the meds she's still in pain, which makes for some long nights. any of you guys have any home remedies to help out?

I know, trashy..

I think that symptoms of the mumps are similar to symptoms of mono, if I remember right. absolutely miserable, from what I am told.

There's been a fairly wide outbreak this year. You can also try a heating pad or ice pack

Sometimes the protection from vaccines fades. When I last had antibodies checked, I had to get an MMR booster because the levels were too low

I don't know if it counts as an "outbreak" but LSU had something like that earlier this year.

Thanks a lot anti-vaxxers

Yea, when the doctors said it could be mumps I looked online and saw several outbreaks at colleges around the country. I figured it was due to anti vaxx parents but seems like the vaccines wear off in time.

I did back in the 80's. Caught it passing a bottle of Jack around after a fraternity initiation... 10 of us got it... Almost quarentined the frat house...

Very miserable experience, lost about 10 pounds. You lose your appetite very easily...

I had my MMR as a kid as we'll.... Didn't make a difference... Had to go to the pediatrition, my regular Doc said he hadn't dealt with mumps in years... I was the only college student in the waiting area with a bunch of kids and babies..... It was especially embarrassing whenh he had to check my nuts....
