Does your employer allow you to actually take your k time? Like actually have a lot of time off?
I can walk in tomorrow and tell him I want the next 2 weeks off and he'll say OK.
A lot of guys in my office take hunting trips a few times a year for a week or two.

Im an I.T. admin for an Automotive Group of 17 New car dealerships. My job kicks arse.
I can get a damn good car deal. I get to check out New cars and trucks without being harrassed by salesmen. I can puppy dog (sales loaner) something if I want/need. I know a mechanic or 30. Parts? I know a guy.
The work, people, and environment kick arse.

Everyone saying yes they love their job need to ask themselves one question.
If you were not getting paid, would you still do what you do?
I love my job.
It's not uncommon to know going in to a case that I'll never see a dime for it.
Plus, at least once a year I use vacation time to go on a medical mission trip where we operate like madmen for 6 days straight to do as many cases as we can for the locals while we are there.

My dad overall loves accounting.
Sounds like he just doesn't need any "free time" because he loves his job maybe?

I'm thrilled with mine. I could be making 4 times what I earn now if I followed through with UVA Law, but I value the lack of stress, consistent 40 hour work week, and type of work I do waaaaay more than being rich.

I absolutely LOVE MY JOB. Managing people is the best!

Love my job...I have a good bit of freedom, work with a great group of guys, plenty of off days a year, decent pay, not that great of insurance (but it's paid for), acrued vacation hours, 365 days of sick leave a year, no day is ever the same, get to do interesting and rewarding things everyday I'm there, get to help people, and I can retire in 13 years with 25 years on the job and only be 49 yrs old

What kind of work do you do? I'm applying for new careers at the moment

Cool. I just turned 29 and I'm basically starting my adult life over at this point. It's a scary feeling to be honest with you, and I'm nervous that I won't make the right decision.

Sure would. In fact I give up one weekend a month minimum and then some to do it part time on the side as well...although there is pay involved, it's not why I do it.
But I also attend conferences out of pocket, have a lab set up at home that I spend time on outside of work, etc.

Yes...I've always enjoyed my work, been an IT software development manager for 20 years.
But this year we've transitioned to Agile Scrum (I'm the Scrum Master) and I love it. The entire team is communicating and engaged like never before and the big boss is very happy...so am I.

Yes. Even so, it as a pain in the arse at times. It's like a second wife almost.

I don't overspend. House paid off and will be back at 150k a year next month.
When you don't have a wife and kids you can stash some cash.
Been off unemployment for over a year. That's not "just"
