I've been a couple of times for conferences and I freaking love Minneapolis. I could live there. I also like cold weather and snow so that's not a deal breaker for me.

There are really only four really bad months: December through March. Summers are beautiful. Definitely live in the west Minneapolis area. Eden Prairie, Minnetonka, Wayzata, Plymouth, etc.
Minnesota always ranks very high in quality of life while Louisiana ranks towards the bottom. Great health care, many lakes, breweries, schools are fantastic, etc.

Don't move here unless you're planning on playing for Gordon Bombay and becoming a Duck!

Lived there 3 years (Plymouth).

It's nice. Not a fan of the people in general. Lots to do for about 6 months a year other than that chances are the weather will suck.
It snowed in may the first year I lived there. Schools are great in certain areas much like everywhere else. Taxes are pretty high. Not a great food town at all.

My Cousin, no pics, moved up there with her now husband .Poor thing grew up in South texas and south Louisiana. Married Him and moved to Minneapolis probably like 10 years ago. She hates the weather because as stated it is freaking cold like 7 months out the year but she's still up there . I here its really nice up there though.

Have one relative I think in northeast Minneapolis around 29th and Stinson. Hade another in St. Paul near St Cecilia's church. Both seem to be nice places, though I like the Minneapolis location better. Town is amazing in the summer.

My sister's FIL lives in Minneapolis. Live in the city. Everything is connected by walkways so you don't really have to go outside during the winter.

I have been there in March and it was snowing. It really wasn't that bad. Seems pretty nice, clean, well kept city. I could live there.

Snow can start in the middle of October and go through early May. Summers are great, though.

I've been here 2 1/2 years and LOVE Minneapolis! I'm a NOLA native and got here after graduating from LSU and then living in the Carolinas.

-which suburbs would you recommend, job is in downtown Minneapolis.
**I live in the Uptown area, but St. Louis Park or the Lake Nokomis are are really nice, and I absolutely love the edgy young professional scene of Uptown/Lynlake.

-Cost of living is higher, but another things to consider?
**I think it balances out. It's not insanely expensive and the jobs here pay way better than down South. Taxes hurt but there are so many resources and networks that you can save in other places (transportation is awesome, farmers markets for food, lots of free fests and entertainment, etc.)

-Things/activities you recommend?
**Too long to type. I've done something new every month since being here.

-Minneapolis side or St. Paul side?
**Depends on if you want to be near the city of fun AND work (MPLS) or the quiet older city (St. Paul)

Spent two weeks there, stayed in Eagan. Great town, but cold af. It was March and it was -15 degrees. You'd have to pay me A LOT of $$$ to move there.
