US 1 also called Phillips hwy. The area coming from downtown jacksonville is known as the hooker hookup rd. You are right that route out of Jville is filled with strip bars and pawn shops. I did tell you when you mentioned that you were in that area that it was not the safest place in the city. The correct way to head to St.Augustine would to have taken AIA hwy along the beaches all the way to the oldest city in the US. Beautiful drive still even though the hurricane claimed some of those million dollar homes.
