4th nationally in SOs but only 47th in ERA. That's alarming

I assume ol dude from State is still leading in avg, RBIs, and HRs? That guy is legit
Posted on 4/11/17 at 11:52 am to sweetwaterbilly
Didn't he hit 3 dingers in one game?
Pitch around that guy.
Pitch around that guy.

Right? For comparison he only has three more ABs than Deichmann.

So he leads the SEC in every major offensive category?
Posted on 4/11/17 at 12:04 pm to tadelatt
Haha I was just looking at the triple crown numbers- but that is insane. I can't imagine it's often you see the conference leader in homers also leading in stolen bases.
Btw - thanks OP for posting these.

He leads the SEC in BA, hits, doubles, home runs, slugging, OPS, on base %, RBIs, and stolen bases. He's a freak. He hit 6 homeruns last week

Looks like the pitching is the problem not hitting.

I guess the Cannizaro input helped him a little bit. BTW --State is ranked 13,15,20,21 in the polls-- that's with losing 6 pitchers. When PM is ready to retire-- maybe he'll come back.

It's half a season. Give him 4 more years. But by then who knows how Dean will be doing.

That's why I would like to see BA with RISP.
We may get a single every inning but unless you string together 2-3 hits, you don't score much.

Those pitching stats say it all. Everybody bitching about the hitting but the overall pitching result is not good.
JMHO, Lange has got to develop a popup or ground ball pitch and work that into his strategy to get his pitch counts down. I dont know how many times I have seen him go 0-2 or 1-2 on a hitter and wind up with a 3-2 count with 3-4 foul balls. He has the stuff but he needs a better strategy... 125 pitches into the 6-7th inning is going to shorten his career and the hitters at the next level are better than they are in CBB.
I kindof believe this may be part of his lack of run support. His defense is sitting out in the field a long time even in no run innings and they seem to lack any continuity. I know that is reaching a bit and is probably bullshite but WTF.

He's 14 of 18 stolen bases. I guess walks and stolen bases is the lesser of the two evils

State has 23-25 of 35 players on the roster available to play. 8 pitchers out, 1 grade casualty, and 1 pitcher dismissed for team rules violations.
