Funny guy, RIP.
My parents went to Vegas in the 70s and DR had a permanent show at Dunes or one of the big hotels. Back in the day you got dressed up to go to a show and apparently Mom spent quite a bit of time on her hair.
Rickles comes out rips off a few one liners then heads into the crowd. Comes up to my parents table and takes my Moms hand and looks at her and said, "you look wonderful tonight sweetheart your hair looks great" then turns to the crowd (still holding her hand) and says "I didnt know Brillo came in that color".
Even Mom had to laugh. After the show he came back to the crowd and talked to everyone that had been part of the show.

I honestly thought he died awhile back, still sucks though. One of my favorites was him doing crowd work: "are you a Jew? Yeah you're a Jew, look at that nose, you're either a Jew or an eagle"
