70% of UNC's "student section" last night was actually Arizona State students.

Here's an article that touches on it. Focuses on NRG mostly. The players interviewed claim it affects their shooting.


An article from 2013 has a telling stat:

I guess you could argue that teams are facing better defenders in the champ game.

It would improve the game. The NCAA doesn't actually care about that though.

I know they probably do it to maximize revenue, but basketball games need to be played in basketball arenas.

Well of course they did. They added seats where the field usually is to get them close to the court.
