Wife and I have flip flopped a couple of times being the higher wage earner. Currently it's me carrying the bigger load, but it never mattered much to either of us at the end of the day.

yeah, we were pretty close in salary until i got laid off. had to start back at a lower salary. also, she's been with the same company for over 20 years and is rewarded well for that.

During the first two years of our marriage, she made a good bit more than me. Kind of sucked.

It wasn't that I was insecure about it, but I had about 20k in student loan debt when we got married. She had a bunch of scholarships and graduated with her bachelors and masters with zero debt.

So it felt kind of shitty to not only be the secondary source of income, but also the primary source of debt.

But now, I out-earn her by about 25k.

My wife is a teacher so her income is less than half of mine.

However, her benefits are where she makes up for it, namely in heath insurance. She's has the state's BC/BS plan which costs a little over $300 per month for family coverage. And it's not one of those 80/20 split with high deductibles plans.

Where I work, the BC/BS family plan is a little over $500 per month and it is a 80/20 split.

How good is her plan? Well, the total bills from my time in the hospital including doctors, surgeons, and everything was just over $1,000,000.00. That's what they submitted to Bc/BS. Out of that we payed out of pocket like $800 total.

My girlfriend makes more than me and all it does is make me strive to improve my professional standing which I think is positive.

A successful woman is sexy as frick too.

Mine does, and likely will, as long as she wants to. If it were up to her she would switch jobs in a heartbeat, but likes the money too much to actually pull the trigger.

I make very good money. My wife makes better money. I'm thrilled about it, but it comes with drawbacks. Namely, she works a lot.

Does it count if we own the business together, but she runs it?

I work my job as a PM in oil and gas and get decent pay and great benefits, and she runs the business we own.

This year our business will make 2-3 times my salary, and it feels pretty good. If it keeps growing I will be joining her running the business in a year or two.

Holy frick that's amazing. My insurance is 80/20 and to put my family on is something like over $1400 a month.

My wife makes more than me on an hourly basis but then again, 85% of the US work force makes more than me so I'm use to it
