quote:

Photographs of him being treated by paramedics emerged yesterday and showed a man of Asian appearance who sported a beard.

quote:

Detectives had delayed disclosing his name to the public for "operational reasons".

So when you guys think a man of asian appearance, do you think khalid masood or Jet Li? Im just curious?

Honestly this doesnt even make me mad anymore.

shite like this is why Trump won. Everyone knows the truth, even if they dont want to fully admit it. People have grown wise to the media, and they have lost a shite ton of credibility with Americans ever since Trump entered the election.

What we think of as Asian, east Asian, isn't what Brits think of as Asian, south Asian. This has been discussed already.

In England, that typically means India or Pakistan. The attacker was Pakistani. That's just a linguistic difference between the U.S. and Britain. Here, Asian connotates East Asia (China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc). There, it's the Subcontinent.

You are exposing your own ignorance. In England, Asian has a connotation of Indian/Pakistani/Middle Eastern. No one in England what think of Jet Li by default if told to picture an Asian.

Hopefully you'll use this embarrassing mistake on your part as a learning opportunity. Next time you see or read something that makes you angry, take a moment and consider if that anger may be born of your own lack of information and narrow world view before you lash out impotently. Cheers!

In the UK, Asian is used to describe people from South Asia.

I can't recall ever seeing an Asian with facial hair, much less a beard

Makes sense

Anytime I hear about a white guy committing a crime they always describe him as "someone with European ancestry"

People commit evil because what is in their brain. Not because of their skin color. I know that reporters will fill talking head time with anything, but I'm mainly interested in motivation.
Since ISIS is claiming him, I think his religious affiliation is more important than his skin color or what he had for breakfast.

It's how they do it in the UK. Sort of like how we call Native Americans "Indians" here. I am sure the UK would say "wut?" to that.

I think this is a cultural thing. The true pc battle is no country describing these attacks as a part of an alleged Muslim jihad against the west.

A fig is a cigarette over there too. Just so you don't get confused. Oh also, Lincoln was a Republican. Not many people know that.
