People who take phone calls on speaker in public places

In what world does this become acceptable? I've heard three already this morning. No one gives a frick about your day except the person on your phone. Maybe.

That is truly aggravating. I hate it as well.

It's not acceptable. Problem is...many lack basic manners and consideration for others nowadays.

I don't do it, but how is it different than 2 people talking in person, from an eavesdropper's perspective?

Even worse, it's disrespectful to the person calling YOU. They don't want everyone to hear their private conversation.

Sounds like you're hanging around some pretty trashy people.

What's worse is listening to some loudmouth carry on a cell phone conversation in a doctor's waiting room. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconspank.gif)

i love pretending to take calls and yell things like "I told you to wire the money to Geneva last week! I say GENEVA, you hear HELSINKI?!! FORTY MILLION frickING DEUTSCHMARK, BOB!"

They probably only watch reality shows where the people only talk on speaker phones so that the tv viewer can hear the conversation, and they think then to themselves that this sort of thing must be normal to do in everyday life.

Reminiscent of the Big Phone Guy skit YouTube LINK where the English guy yells into his huge mobile phone.

Meh, not any different than two people just standing there or walking having a conversation.
Is that considered rude now?

What do you expect from the same demographic that thinks murder of each other is acceptable behavior

Just start talking back to the person on speaker and join in the conversation. They'll get the hint...hopefully

Back in '07 I was at the Circle K on Brightside in BR when the guy in front me in line got his cell phone ripped out of his hand and flung across the store by the guy in front of him for taking obnoxiously loud with speaker phone.
The older gentleman just quietly said,"quit dat shite...", the dude trembled and just stood there while people laughed and cheered. It remains one of the best things I've ever seen before in my life.

It's the only thing worse than people who talk unnecessarily loudly in airports on a business call.

Use of a speaker phone unless you have multiple people in a room participating should be banned. Also, it should be required that you inform the other party that you are using a speaker phone.
