Please downvote this thread with everything you have, just the worst news imaginable.
Sending prayers to Dwight and his family, such a terrifying disease.

Damn that sucks. He'll be dead within 5 years and it's an awful death.
That pic of him in the back of the endzone at Candlestick will be famous for as long as the game is played. It's maybe the most iconic single image in American sports history.

Man that's really late for ALS to set in isn't it?

This is terrible news.
I was a wee lad when I remember seeing The Catch on TV.
Love Dwight Clark.

more recent research on ALS is starting to show that there really may be multiple types that will become separated as we get to know more about it. Gleason is an anomaly, as he's had it for over 6 years now. the vast majority die within 2-4 years.

I think if you have unlimited funds you can stay "alive" for as long as you want. When I say alive I mean in the fashion of Gleason and Hawking
Most don't have the money, or willpower, to live like that

Please don't say that
I know it's terrifying and it's the most likely outcome but there is hope

This is true
It affects both upper and lower motor neurons at the sam time but can also affect one or the other
