Talk to them both at the same time, and slowly transition to talking to the friend more. Easy peasey. It's respectful, and if you are smooth enough, the original girl won't realize it until it's too late

That's how my Dad met my Mom....got her date passed out drunk then danced with my Mom all night and married her 6 months later...That was 56 years ago...so, watch out! ;)
