I actually didn't mind Super Mario Bros. that much.

Jim Carrey should have won at least two academy awards

2001 is the most overrated movie in history

Shawshank Redemption is blah. I think Heat with Deniro is one of the best crime movies ever made.

They should have stopped making Star Trek movies after "Wrath of Kahn". And Spock should have stayed dead.
No filmmaker in history is more overrated than Tarantino.
Movies in general were far more sensual when they weren't allowed to be explicit.

Your unpopular movie opinions
AKA "How many downvotes can you get by offering an honest answer to exactly what the thread asks for?"
Bet I can beat most of these downvote counts. I honestly think that the only thing the original "Star Wars" trilogy did well was groundbreaking special effects...for the time. The writing and conceptualizations were better suited for low-budget TV than feature films and completely unworthy of the achievements of the special effects. The original "Indiana Jones" trilogy left "Star Wars" in the dust, even taking into account the mediocrity of "Temple of Doom."
Edit: Just had a thought as I was falling asleep. I'm actually not sure whether it will be popular or unpopular. If Lucas had had the common sense to hand the reins over to Ridley Scott from the start, giving him full directorial and writing team control while settling for just taking care of the special effects, "Star Wars" might now be remembered as a top 20 movie of all time regardless of genre. That would have been an absolute powerhouse line-up.

Westerns all look and sound the same.
Animal House is not funny.
Clint Eastwood is tiresome. He plays the same character with the same scowl in every movie. Gran Torino was retarded.
Rocky IV is retarded.

Harrison Ford's acting in the Star Wars OT was horrendous, especially in ANH.
Tom Cruise, while an extremely weird guy, is a phenomenal actor.
As someone who loves old movies, it pains me to say this -- most movies from the Hollywood golden age (e.g. 1940s, 50s and early 60s) are profoundly overrated and overacted. I still laugh when I watch an old movie and see a scene where the woman does the move where she dramatically breaks away from the man, walks over to a window or a corner, and stares off into space while reciting a monologue.
Twelve O'Clock High is the best WWII movie ever made.

I don't think Caddyshack is funny. John Candy, Chris Farley and fat comics, in general, aren't funny, either.

Didn't like Office Space.

Napoleon Dynamite and Superbad were so incomprehensibly bad it's not even funny. Maybe people between 14-17 "got them" at the time or something.
And Juno, too.

I didn't read all 9 pages to know if this has already been posted, but Big Lebowski is fricking terrible. I've tried to watch it at least 20 times and have turned it off or fallen asleep every time due to how fricking terrible it is.

I thought The Notebook and Love Actually were great movies. Nothing wrong with a good love story

The Godfather movies are complete trash.
John Wayne movies suck and he was a terrible actor.

- The original Pete's Dragon is much more deserving of a 'ban' than Song of the South
- The Untouchables is a better movie than Goodfellas (and Scarface is an objectively terrible movie)
- A Christmas Story is a movie that should never be watched around Christmas (it is an anti-Christmas story)
- John Malkovich is an incredibly overrated actor
- Hugh Jackman does a worse job than Russell Crowe in Les Mis. The reason Crowe sounds worse is because he's singing in a different style from Jackman, but he's not doing a bad job. He's doing an ok job in his style, while Jackman is doing a bad job in his style. (They should have cast Alfie Boe for the role, but they decided on name rather than quality to sell tickets).
- Happy Feet is one of the worst movies of all time.
