Does he play OLD or DE in our scheme?
I assume DE?

i like it. I remember in blues FA thread, i had asked/pointed out about okafor. He seems like an under radar type guy who has good edge potential for pretty cheap.

He showed promise a few years ago but I hope they didn't sign him to starter type money. $2-3 mil per tops just because of the premium on pass rushers.

Definitely DE, he's a solid 260.

He'll play end but he'll also drop back at times in zone blitzes and such (or if we are selling out in coverage).

Looks like the consensus is DE.
Does this change our draft strategy at all?
If Thomas or Barnett is still there at 11, do we run up to the podium?

Guys, i just talked to my guy. He's going to play end and sometimes he'll protect a flat and screen game.

nope.

If we take a pass rusher in the first and Kikaha comes back healthy we should actually have a good D line with depth for once.

No one here thinks that will happen.

Nope, depth signing only. He's not a speed rusher, which is what we need. If Thomas drops, he won't, or if Barnett is there I'd imagine we take one of them. Unless we go DB, the only position we've done absolutely nothing with so far this offseason. Making me think they have their eyes set on one at 11, and get the edge rusher in round 2.

Not at all. CB and DE remain our two biggest needs, by far.

Seems like a good pass rush specialist with a chance to become a full time starter if he returns to the potential he showed a few seasons ago. Good signing if they don't pay him too much

Doesn't possess great speed, apparently.

the buzz when he was drafted...
Cardinals drafted Texas DE/OLB Alex Okafor with the No. 103 overall pick.
Okafor (6-foot-5, 264) played defensive tackle before converting to end for his junior and senior campaigns. He rallied for 22 career sacks, 40 tackles for loss, and eight forced fumbles. Okafor lacks flash -- he ran 4.89 at his Pro Day and offers little variety in his pass-rush moves -- but he was a finisher in the Big 12 and can win with strong hands and length. Okafor isn't special in any area, but does everything pretty well. A value pick at the top of round four, Okafor will push for immediate snaps behind underwhelming Cardinals OLBs Sam Acho and O'Brien Schofield.

This is a low risk/high reward signing that doesn't effect our draft strategy at all. I imagine it is for very little money and is a one or two year prove it deal.
The guy has shown that when healthy, he can get after the QB. His problem has been health and consistency. If it doesn't work out no big deal, if it does its a big help.
We will still add a pass rusher in the draft early.

Says , he's a strong side end with a strong punch and pretty good against the run quick burst type guy.
Is it out of the realm of possibility he gets moved to strong side and Cam Jordan becomes our weak side rush end in some packages ?
