But pure action isn't just about action...
It's about the movie having little redeeming qualities beyond the action.
John Wick has an actual story - so that disqualifies it as the best pure action movie of all time.
The Expendables franchise?
Con Air is?
300?
London Has Fallen might be up there - damn that movie was seriously bad.
All of the above are seriously retarded movies that are nothing but mindless action.
John Wick tries to be something more - so no, it's not the best pure action movie.
I think John Wick and Payback are very similar with Mel Gibson.
Actually I think John Wick is a rip-off of Payback.
Shame Payback doesn't get the love John Wick gets.
Because Payback is a better film than John Wick.

Love Payback. Don't think I've ever seen it uncut because I've never seen it on a station that didn't have commercials.
I'd put Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) in with these movies. Love the movie and the story.
