It's not that one causes the other exactly, or is directly related to that. It's that Nintendo's approach. It's that BotW is the culmination of all this other stuff.
It exists, therefore, it is the result of Nintendo being Nintendo. Think about it like this:
We know, with 100% certainty that Nintendo acting like this that they created BotW. BotW exists. Right? If Nintendo acts the way you want, which is a fantasy because it doesn't exist, is the result still BotW? Can you say that with 100% certainty?
I mean, you can assume, but you can't say, hence a response like that.

No one is arguing that it CAN be done, the problem is arguing that it would be, with 100% certainty if Nintendo were to not be Nintendo.

I can with 100% certainty say that Hidemaro Fujibayashi and his teams creativity and execution had nothing to do with whoever planned and put together the switch. Or the Wii U for that matter.
The idea that because one side of the same company is great at what they do because of the strange decisions of the other side is just silly.

If other companies are capable of creating games just as good or better, why do you think you have to have a ton of backwards thinking to make good games? This especially doesn't make sense for Breath of the Wild which changes by taking from other games.
I don't want to go point by point because I don't want to dogpile too much. I just don't think it's right to justify bad policy or decisions because a different part of the company is competent.
There's a big difference between keeping up with industry standards and producing a clone of your competition. If you think that the PS4 is so successful just because, then I don't really know what to say.
