Yeah, I get that her character is a teenage girl and teenage girls are annoying and fricking stupid (a lot of the time)
And while yes, I know her character is meant to be annoying, it's the stupid face she always has on. The mouth-breathing, the utter dumbface, the goofy arse way she runs. It's all horrible and she's my new least favorite character.

I actually think the acting by her, Ian, and Carl have somehow gotten worse as they've gotten older somehow.
I actually like Debbie's character when she was younger. And you're right, she's supposed to be the naive and rebellious teenager but Christ, everything she has said to Fiona in seasons 5-6 have been said as a smartass and sometimes there is no reason behind it.

The whole kid storyline made me want to punch her in her face. On the other hand, it was a perfect storyline to show how the cycle of poverty continues through these families for generations.

Don't forget Diane Chambers who was so bad she ruined an entire season of one of the greatest shows ever created and who was so bad that she ruined one of the great characters in TV history for a time in Sam Malone. fricking hated Diane Chambers.

I don't know. I think she just fits in with all the crazy shite that each character goes through and each character does seem to tie into other parts of the show.
Debbie learning how to wield played a part in helping out Fiona a few times.
Carl is an idiot, but he I don't think anyone expected him to be anything more. I think they are all riding a fine line between actually turning out better than the environment they were raised in and being a complete frick up and we are just waiting to see which ones will go down the same road as their parents or actually live a somewhat stabilized life.

I have come to hate all the characters on shameless as much as I hated everyone in Breaking Bad. With that being said, they have the characters development pretty accurate and Debbie is pretty spot on for a white trash teen with absentee parents. I think my main problem is that I have given up on everybody and I feel like none of them will ever break the cycle. Maybe the youngest kid, but he is just now getting to the age where he can cause trouble so we will have to wait and see. I haven’t seen the newest season yet, but I won’t hold my breathe that anybody changes much.

I am curious if her character on Rosanne (Darleen's daughter) will just be a cleaner version of Debbie G.
I always thought Shameless was a rougher, edgier new version Rosanne.
