I think it's nice to see support, but a lot of it is pretty cringe worthy.

They are goofy and it's cringe worthy behavior but you can't keep dorks away from things. The San Jose "ultras" seem particularly pathetic. Orlando City has some real affected pieces of work as well.

It's certainly is better than the "legitimate" ultras over in Europe though, stabbing each other and generally being tribalistic idiots. Hooligans, et al. are idiots and shouldn't be glamorized. I'd rather have to deal with some loser over here who is no real threat than getting my eye socket smashed by some eastern European gentleman

No wonder Yankees think football is gay.

They're just fans, really. I'm in favor of MLS having fan support.

imho, it all seems very forced which comes off as silly.

i can't remember the author of the article but there was a brit who just eviscerated the american soccer fan in a piece for the journal, and while much of his thoughts were full of shite he nailed some of it when it came to the characterization of the american soccer fan.

in the end however, i'll take the cringe worthy soccer fan out there supporting the game in hopes that it continues to catch on and grow in this country.

The US doesn't have Ultra's in any other sport, it feels forced.

I think you are mistaking supporters groups with "ultras". They are nothing close to being the same. Ultras isn't really a thing in MLS, aside from a few idiots in NY. And it will probably stay that way.

Also, you cherry picked the frick out of that Timbers photo. The support that team gets is insane.

But to be fair, some of it is pretty cringe. Take this Sounders capo, for example.

They are not really ultras for a variety of reasons

The Seattle supporters groups just rub me the wrong way the most. Everything with them seems forced and fake especially for a club as old as they are.
