That quote wasn't really directed towards you. Mostly to the other guy whom you were responding to. My statement was in addition to yours. Sorry for the confusion.

Nah. Just enjoy debate and someone who would put this film as a borderline 2/5 and X2 as his favorite is an easy low hanging fruit. Was actually eating Pluckers and rereading Dresden files between posts.

you know damn well that i made that comment as a joke just to express how bad that death scene was.

Back to the water pump. I don't like how they used that scene as a way to separate Charles and Logan so x24 could come in and kill prof X. Felt forced
I can forgive them that because of how they executed it.
Both by using editing to cover the fact that it wasn't the actual Logan Xavier was essentially giving his own eulogy to, essentially saying he didn't deserves these momments of happiness and definitely not a quiet run into the literal sunset.
And two: Not sure how they can kill him off without being cliche if both Logan and X-23 is present and aware.

Bunch of kids with power all wanting a piece of their tormentor and would be executor. Makes sense to me. Hell, given the set up, I wouldn't be surprised if they had one kid killing him solo, and the others running in after the fact because they wanted some too.
But that would have played too poorly on film, and Pierce needed something a little more than merely getting stabbed by Logan/X-23 like a hundred other guys.
I would argue Rice's death was worse. Barely developed character that gets his head blown off mid expositional monologue.

Watcha dearkier, what a great movie.
Can I assume that the adamantium was killing Logan, or was it cancer or something?
Really wish this movie would have come 5 years ago or so. Then the end could have had Logan taking on Prof X's role of watching over all the kids. Eventually dieing after a trilogy or so. Just really liked how this was done vs prior xmen movies.

That's what they were implying

They imply it pretty strongly. I personally like to think of it as one thing amongst many, especially if we are supposed to buy into the short time between DOFP and this movie.
I think the Westchester Incident badly scarred Logan on top of all the baggage he already had. Bad enough that he started to lose the will to live, which weakened his healing ability, which needed to stay in top shape to hold back adamantium poisoning. Start an downward feedback loop.
Supportive evidence for this, outside of how haunted they made him both in dialogue and constant drinking, even on the job, is in the fact that Caliban brings it up as if it is something relatively new.
And relatively new on the time scale on the Westchester Incident, which was when Caliban was brought into the fold and would have gotten a baseline for Logan's health.

Saw it yesterday, GREAT MOVIE. Best X-men movie and best rendition of Wolverine on screen. Great action, great performances, good emotion. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire movie and will be one of my favorites for the year.

I like how the movie was vague about the past. Left things open to debate and didn't spoil any future stories.

said it in my other post, but man i wish this would have been a trilogy with more closure on the future i suppose.
movie 1 - fall of xmen and mutants. professor X and Logan in hiding.
movie 2 - "LOGAN" except he survives to take care of the young children that escaped taking over prof X's spot.
movie 3 - resurrection of the mutant community, destruction of the company creating them, Logan dies.
guess that's predictable but would have been amazing if done like this movie.

Seemed obvious that Charles had one of his seizures that resulted in the death of all the mutants at the school.

Yes but that's vague too.

Saw it last night and while definitely the best movie ever done associated with the X-Men, there was a bit left to be desired. First off, I was not a fan of the Logan clone (X-24) whatsoever. Donald Pierce was a nice addition but I was hoping for more of a baddie or someone we could potentially see down the line. Movie definitely dragged on at times and Patrick Stewart dropping F bombs got really tired after awhile. Also was not a fan of the farm scene where X-24 got to kill off a bunch of farmers to establish how dangerous he is, we all know what Wolverine is capable of. With that said, the ending was REALLY well done and that might have been the first time I got emotional during a goodbye scene with comic book movies. Will probably purchase it when it comes out but I feel it was very overrated and I say that as one of the biggest Wolverine fans ever.

Seven mutants died at Westchester

Loved it. Best XMan movie by far and the Wolverine I always hoped to see.

about the westchester incident....
quote:
It’s because, during one of his first seizures, he killed at least seven notable mutants. Speaking with ComingSoon about that story point, co-writer and director James Mangold revealed why the “Westchester Incident” wasn’t included in the film itself:
“I wrote that scene. I wrote it, and at one point, it was even the first scene in the movie…. [But] it also made the movie about that. It was really interesting. It suddenly made the movie about X-Men dying, as opposed to allowing the movie to be a kind of unwinding onion, like allowing you to kind of enter the story and go, “Where is this going?” It was so large and loomed so large, and I felt like it also was still falling into the formula of the movies, with the big opener, that is setting up the mythology first. I thought, “What if we do an opener that leans into character first? Actually underplay those things?” Let them just feel like it’s more like a—what’s that? A normal thing, like it’s happened. And instead of underlining it, yeah. Just let it live in the background of all these characters.”

Can someone explain how his name went from James to Logan?
Posted on 3/8/17 at 10:49 am to finchmeister08
Was that his real name before the adamantium changes and mind wipes?
Anyways, I rather enjoyed this movie but given the fixed timelines in the x-men universe I understand that to make this movie certain things would have be glossed over. The child actress was phenomenal and had a great repartee with Jackman.
Also, of all the mutant kids it really seems like freeze breath kid got gypped when you see some of the things the others can do.

He was born James Howlett. He took on the name Logan shortly after he left home, well before Weapon X.
