OT mechanics... single "knock" from front when in drive and braking

Only while in drive, upon pressing and releasing the brakes there is a single knock. Just recently replaced the pads. I've never had this happen before. Any ideas?

Year model? Make? Model? Miles? Engine size? Automatic or manual transmission?

I have a chevy pickup and have heard this before...never have figured out what causes it, but it hasn't gotten worse over ten years.

I'm trashy and I had a mustang that had a broken motor mount that did this once. Didn't make noise on startup or anything else, just when braking. Was pretty weird. I bought some common parts that could cause it and it was a damn motor mount.
