We have all the other decades figured out but its 2017 and we're still trying to define the 2000s. What say the music board? Electronic? Pop? Electro-Pop?
Asked multiple people at the bar last night and no one had a good answer.

Rap became increasingly popular it seemed. Lil Wayne, Nas, Jay-Z, The Hot Boys. Southern rap especially became the new hot stuff.

Depends what you were listening to. There several subgenres.
Rock for the 2000s: Alternative Rock - Subs would be Nu Metal, Post Punk Rock, some Post Grunge, Alternative Metal, Emo, Electronic Rock.
For Pop: Who gives a shite most of that sucks.
For Hip/Hop Rap: This is pretty big in 2000s. Not familiar with that many sub genres of this though.
Anything else: Meh. Who cares again.
