you have to admit that Mexico doesn't care if it violates our sovereignty as a nation and they are the ones playing with fire. The entire anti-illegal immigration stance that we have right now is bolstered almost entirely by Mexico using us like a whore. Perhaps if they weren't so brazen with their disrespect for our laws we wouldn't be so hard-nosed about it.
You have no fricking clue as to what is actually going on. Net immigration has from Mexico has been virtually zero since 2009. Also, Mexico has cracked down on their southern border with regards to illegal central American immigrants.
Mexico isn't the ones playing with fire here, we are. We have a lot to lose, Mexico, not so much.
If you think they're disrespectful of our sovereignty now, just wait until we totally disregard theirs. Then why don't they just go ahead and start a bus line from their southern border to their northern border for the express purpose of moving central Americans into the US. Why don't they just go ahead and declare all drugs and drug production legal and allow 'exports' to flow into the US. WE are the ones with the drug problem, not them. THIS is where the demand resides. We need all the help we can get from them to control the illegal drugs coming out of Mexico. Just because you thin kit's bad and out of control now doesn't mean it couldn't get worse.

quote:Exactly. They haven't been cooperating at all.
I'd say the same about Mexico. Mexico has NOT been cooperative in stemming the influx.
Hell, they let people freely cross through Mexico to get here.
Where has the cooperation been from them?

I want the US to open its borders, but support Mexico closing theirs?
Why do you want that?
Don't you want them to continue their efforts to secure their southern border? Don't you want them to cooperate with us when we try to return illegal immigrants back to Mexico?
Why do you want to be antagonistic to everyone?

It's laughable that Mexico thinks they have any leverage in this. We have them by the balls economically and politically. About time we make them deal with the consequences of mismanagement
That's absurd. Do you think a completely failed state in Mexico is in our best interests?

letting them export their problems here.
News flash, WE have the demand for illegal drugs, they have the supply. It's our problem that they can make worse if they want to.

Mexico has a positive trade balance unlike the U.S.
We need them as partner or it will cost us just as many or more jobs as we gain.

Doesn't Mexico have a harsher illegal immigration policy than we do? And don't they have a southern wall? Seems they might be shooting themselves in the foot by going to the UN.
Oh, and screw the UN.

The "enemy" is always expected to cooperate or work with them, but they never demand the opposite. They are not required to work with their "enemy".

It's because you don't want to see it:
Mexico moves to lock down its OTHER border wall

They seem pretty complicit in the actions of those we are sending back.
Except that they're cooperating with us by identifying who are Mexican nationals, and letting them back in. They don't have to actually do that.
And again, net immigration of Mexicans from Mexico has been near ZERO for the past 6 years.

They don't have to like it they just have to deal with it.

You have no fricking clue as to what is actually going on. Net immigration has from Mexico has been virtually zero since 2009. Also, Mexico has cracked down on their southern border with regards to illegal central American immigrants.
quote:If they don't gain anything by their people coming to the US, why are they so opposed to us wanting to put our foot down on illegal immigration? Why wouldn't they just encourage their people to come here legally if they want to?
Mexico isn't the ones playing with fire here, we are. We have a lot to lose, Mexico, not so much.
quote:How in the world are we disregarding their sovereignty by telling them to stop sending people here illegally? We aren't telling them what they should do with their own borders. We aren't telling them what their own immigration policies should be for their country. We aren't encouraging people in the US to cross the border illegally into Mexico. We are telling them that they are sovereign over their own country and we are sovereign over ours. They want to have control over their southern border but complain that we want to do the same thing.
If you think they're disrespectful of our sovereignty now, just wait until we totally disregard theirs.
quote:They have balls but they aren't that ballsy. Right now they can deny encouraging illegal immigration to the US even if the reality shows differently. If they started sending buses through, they would be certainly overplaying their hand. Also, they don't want immigrants coming from south america. There's a lot of risk of them getting off the bus on the way to the US border.
Then why don't they just go ahead and start a bus line from their southern border to their northern border for the express purpose of moving central Americans into the US.
quote:The drug cartels own Mexico. The demand for drugs in the US is one of the primary motivators of Mexico allowing (or encouraging) an open border with the US. The more drugs that can freely cross the border the more money that goes back to Mexico. It's one reason why we have to close the border. We also shouldn't allow another country to hold our sovereignty hostage. We should build a wall or some other barrier to easy entry and enforce our immigration laws. If Mexico doesn't like it, they can do a better job of preventing their own people from wanting to leave the country and from illegally crossing the border.
Why don't they just go ahead and declare all drugs and drug production legal and allow 'exports' to flow into the US. WE are the ones with the drug problem, not them. I'm referencing our border. Where are their attempts to block people crossing into the USA from Mexico? Seems as if it is pretty one-sided, imo.
quote:I want to see massive cooperation preventing illegal entry into the USA.

Link? To both. Although "cracked down" is rather unspecific.

You have to weigh the benefits of trade with Mexico with the risks of open borders. I believe Mexico is getting all of the positives with none of the risks in our current relationship. They get to sell us a lot of stuff for good money. They get to send their people to the US and get money from what they send back. They get subsidies from the drug cartels for encouraging open borders with us where the drugs can flow freely. They can lock down their southern border to keep people out all they want and then dictate to us what we do with our border. They've got a great deal and we get drugs, rapists, murderers, gangs, poverty, and exposure to terrorists to go along with the avocados that people think they need.

Under the last administration the US deported more illegal immigrants than any other president.
This has pissed off many people from the left. This why the amount of illegals from Mexico in the US has went down.

I mean, technically they can refuse to accept 3rd country nationals.
I don't think they can if they allowed them transit into the USA (which is the case for a large majority of them).

They might have a point on the "deportation of non-Mexicans to Mexico" part-- not quite sure how that's legal.
